toiyeuban 0 Posted June 26, 2018 the other day i was looking at my moles (i’ve been freaking out thinking i have melanoma) and i saw one on my thigh, i know it’s been the for awhile and never caused problems but i still freaked out. there was a little pimple by it and of course i squeezed tans i continued to mess with the mole which caused it to be irritated and red and sting a little. a couple days later (today) i ended up scratching the dark part off and i’m now freaking out even more. i have pictures attached. first one is when i popped the pimple and shows what it looked like the day after messing with it, second is where i scratched off the dark parts. is this something normal or is it melanoma? has anyone else ever done this? i have a doctors appointment but it’s a week away so i’m going crazy. PennyPanic 276 Posted June 27, 2018 Maybe it wasn't a mole? Could have been a seborheic keratosis (sp?)...which is totally benign and can be scratched off. I've scratched off many of those...on purpose actually. I've also picked at moles and made them bleed (what was I thinking?) I'm a worrier as well, especially about skin things. I know the week wait will be tough but try to hang in there. Call and see if they have any cancellations between now and your appt - I'm not saying this for any reason other than your peace of mind, btw. Remember, no one one here can diagnose anything...we're just some fellow scared people on the internet with no medical degree. Anyhow, keep us posted. AndrewF 37 Posted June 27, 2018 yes I've done this! Asked my doc on a visit. Said "you've scratched off a mole".
Jennie048 115 Posted June 27, 2018 I have done this before to two of these type of things on my legs last summer and also went to the derm to get them checked out -- they turned out to be dermatofibromas - which are harmless but they take a long time to go away...I can still faintly see one - you will feel better once you get it checked out like I did...hang in there. Holls 1505 Posted June 27, 2018 Ouch I did that a long time ago. A mole on my leg. It bled for a long time. The mole didn't go away but it did scab over and is healed.

I highly doubt they will respond.

AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted August 9, 2019 I had one of those on my stomach actually. Nothing serious at all and definitely not a mole as I understand it. I think you're okay.
mollyfin 366 Posted August 10, 2019 You might try directly messaging them, but the lack of followup posts does kinda suggest it was nothing worrisome!
