Chantsy 31 Posted March 17, 2020 4 hours ago, Holls said: I'm surprised there isn't more traffic on this post. There hasn't been much activity for a few days actually.. I'm overwhelmed and my anxiety is higher than normal. I'm doing what I can for myself and my family but this is like a nightmare! The grocery stores are honestly what's scaring me and why aren't they doing more for extending hospital sites? My what ifs are running rampant right now. I've been hunkered down, have had zero contact with anyone for five days. My husband has to go back to work Fri and what sucks is, if he gets around 1 person that isn't taking this seriously that undoes everything we have been doing. He's going to talk to his manager about safety protocols. Hugs everyone ❤️ some kind of advice would be great from another anxious person. I also haven't watched the news. My family keeps texting articles so I'm going to have to remove myself from that text group.. I'm feeling very much the same way although I do find a lot of comfort in staying home and not going out. Groceries are my number one problem! I still figure it's safer to get someone else to do my grocery shopping and hand them off at my vehicle so I don't have to go into the store. But out of an abundance of caution have been sanitizing every last piece of grocery when it comes through our door. My worry is: what happens when the numbers get horrendously bad? Then what? I wont want to go anywhere near a grocery store but we all still need to eat. My husband is still working and I am praying he stops soon. I feel like all the quarantine in the world won't help us if someone at his work contracts it. Staying away from the news is a great idea. I check twice a day then turn it off. What really helps me is to focus on things that make me laugh. I bought a book yesterday after listening to the author on the radio who I found very funny. I watch funny movies and shows. I have been focusing on baking and taking care of my three kids who are, naturally, at home now thankfully. Creating your own happy bubble is the best way to go! Also, eat healthfully. Take your vitamins. Try (and I say try because I still have a hard time) to get good sleep at night. Go to bed early every night. Stay connected with family and friends through facetime, or calling them. All of it helps and then you know you've tried the best you can! Stay safe! MARC 431 Posted March 17, 2020 My feeling is you need to use caution, but you also have to live your life and not be in constant fear as this too may weaken your immune system.
MARC 431 Posted March 17, 2020 Don't get me wrong, I am still concerned about it as I have had health anxiety for a long time off and on. However, I still am more fearful of the traditional diseases such as cancer and heart disease.

Yes, definitely live your life. BUT, if you are immunocompromised like me then a life of quarantine is the best thing.
angrry 55 Posted March 18, 2020 social isolation (quarantine) is the best way to prevent the spread of this....we got back from Mexico on Friday...we got colds so we had to get tested....we are waiting for our results now and are in quarantine for at least 14 days....as a person with HA this is really affecting me.... davide.h 26 Posted March 18, 2020 How do you feel? I've heard that it's treated mostly like the common flu unless it gets too severe.
MARC 431 Posted March 18, 2020 My friend is 66, has diabetes and asthma and is worried and understandably so. I don't mean to sound uncaring, but my way of dealing with the coronavirus is to try to block it out and still be cautious. I hope and pray everyone gets through this. angrry 55 Posted March 18, 2020 hi davide....we both feel like we have a cold...sniffles, mild cough, scratchy throat, my wife has a headache....we have been told to take tylenol if necessary...i also take dayquil and nyquil...
davide.h 26 Posted March 18, 2020 Even though I'm not sick (as far as I know) I'm still acting as I would with a cold. Lots of water, vitamin C, ibuprofen etc. I had to stock up on groceries last week and everyone had the same idea. It looked the way a store does before a blizzard or hurricane is about to hit. Hard to do social distancing, but what choice did I have? :(
angrry 55 Posted March 18, 2020 apparently we will get our results today....as of right now we have not been told we have it....social distancing is very important...it's not enjoyable but it will help stop the spread....grocery stores are the same here...very hard to find some things
angrry 55 Posted March 18, 2020 my wife and I got our results....we are both negative 🙂

davide.h 26 Posted March 18, 2020 My dad ordered more Vitamin C but it won't get here until next Tuesday. What if my condition worsens between now and then? 😓 I'm losing my mind.

Again us anxious people have to be careful that when we hear symptoms we start to mentally manifest them. I was having a tight chest yesterday but I had to ask myself is this me doing this or something else. And it was me.. over focusing.
davide.h 26 Posted March 19, 2020 No, no thermometer in the house and we aren't leaving. We're having things brought to us. I do have shortness of breath when I'm anxious but it's not physically painful, which as I understand is the symptom to be alert for.
angrry 55 Posted March 19, 2020 davide...is there a health links line you can call for advice? a place set up in your community to give advice and answer questions about the virus? thats how we fo8und out we should get tested.....they will be able to answer your questions address your concerns. davide.h 26 Posted March 19, 2020 No, testing is unavailable for most people.
angrry 55 Posted March 19, 2020 hi davide....my reply was not to suggest you get tested but more to see if your area had a health line where you could call to get advice and info re: coronavirus which may ease your mind
davide.h 26 Posted March 19, 2020 I don't know of any such line.
davide.h 26 Posted March 20, 2020 Good news, new cases in China have slowed to a trickle. Looks like the worst there might be over. In the US, it seems regular people are doing what they can, with social distancing. But I wouldn't trust this government to tie my shoes correctly. I sure hope I'm proven wrong. MARC 431 Posted March 21, 2020 The thing that worries me as much as the virus, is the economic impact. Jobs are being lost and here in Maryland, they are estimating a loss of 15,000-20,000 businesses. More has to be done to help those financially impacted by the virus. Less talk and more action. Holls 1505 Posted March 22, 2020 Still feeling anxious. What is everyone doing to not let this ramp up their anxiety? I'm trying to not read articles. I never watch the news but the article headlines alone make me start shaking with anxiety. I'm doing weekly therapy sessions via face time now . Hopefully that helps. I think the uncertainty and not feeling in control is what's getting me.. but as my therapist says.. control is an illusion but my inner OCD says that not true lol. 🤪 Hugs everyone. Stay safe. davide.h 26 Posted March 22, 2020 I'm also torn on whether or not reading or watching the news is a good thing. I want to stay informed, but it distresses me so much that it's hard to function. I will say that my doctor says he believes that the vast majority of people will emerge from this perfectly fine. I'm even hoping the changing season might at least bring a slow down. I'm not a doctor, but that's a thought I had. Mornings are worst, when the reality of everything hits me again.

The mornings are my hardest. Thank you for saying what your Dr told you. That gives me a lot of comfort. I really needed to hear that today.
