My moods over the past year are constantly changing. I can go from a great mood to upset within seconds for no reason. Sometimes I just want to cry and have no clue why. I get really stressed over little things and then become very aggravated by the fact that I'm stressed. Its also goes the other way to I can go from a really bad mood to happy and laughing with in a matter of minutes. I really don't understand these mood changes and it is starting to concern me.

WOW Hailey ...Im pretty sure you just described ME!!! I am the exact same way. I defiantely think it from anxiety and depression for me. Ive been on all sorts of meds but none of them really work :(. So instead Im tryin other ways to help myself. Reading self help books and magazines, yoga, eating better and buying something nice for myself once a week!!

Im the same way too Hailey. Like Twinks said, anxiety and depression can cause it - thats what it is for me. Just try not to let it worry you. Let your feelings happen. And do like Twinks said and find things to enjoy doing to help not be so focused on it.

Hailey I could just jump on in there with you! I have the exact same issue. I am undiagnosed, but I think something is wrong. I don't know if this is relevant to you, but are you on the birth control pill? Because that tiny little pill has made my moods worse, I get so teary so easily, my first pill had me crying every day. I am going to see my doctor to change, as I really feel it is having an influence over this.

I wonder if it has origin in hormonal shifts? You describe exactly what I've felt when being overly-hormonal. The whole reason I began anti-depressants several years ago was because of PMDD, which started to get really bad after I stopped nursing my second child. Whatever depression and anxiety I already experienced became much worse, and the mood swings were AWFUL.

I'm on the Depo Prevera shot for birth control. I don't believe that is the cause of these problems though as I had these mood prior to taking this shot. It all started towards the 8th month of my pregnancy. I'm thinking maybe it is a hormonal imbalance. I just can't stand it because now my husband is walking on eggshells around me. I'm afraid this might start affecting our marriage if I don't get it under control. I think i will have to look into some self help books as I do not want to have to take a pill to make me happy. Thanks for the advice.

Have you considered undiagnosed post natal depression? I know you said it started in the 8th month of pregnancy but I believe sometimes post natal can do that when it is called pre natal depression and can be missed for this reason because the mood changes start before birth. It might be worth having a chat with your doctor or a midwife and see what they say.

I feel this way sometimes and I think birth control contributed to it because since I had my implant in I feel worse on my bad days.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this thread. I thought I was the only one going through the same situation. Since the baby came to my life, I started feeling like nobody understood me. :(

Coming from someone who just turned 40 and my hormones have started to go all whacky I can assure you if you already have anxiety issues fluctuating hormones play havoc on it. I can feel pretty good, almost normal one day then the next.... I feel like i'm in hell. This can also trigger anxiety if you haven't had it before, as can having a baby. That's without PPD. When things settle down it can go away just as fast as it came, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed lol)

I was doing basically thesame thing along with some hot and cold flashes. I told the doctor if I didn't know better would have thought I was going through menopause or pregnant (neither of which was possible). She started me on a low dose of cymbalta and it has helped. I am the closest to normal I have been in years. I do not like meds, but in this case I was in a similar situation. The moodswings were tearing my family apart. No one, including me, knew what to expect out of me next. So maybe it could help you as well.

What you need to realise is that you can control your thoughts, which will have a direct effect on how you feel. These sudden mood changes may seemingly have no causes, but the cause is your thought patterns. By tapping into your thoughts you will become aware of the particular thoughts which make you feel sad and stressed and cut these thoughts out. Also, if you have chronic stress, you will be more susceptible to sudden mood changes. A constant underlying stress is what makes you stressed over trivial things. You need to work on lowering your stress.
