Twinks* 16 Posted February 23, 2012 Today I met with a 4th psychiatrist....this one has extensive knowledge about ocd. I learned so much about why my obsessions are so whacky and how they have made my depression worse and also feelings of paranoia and guilt that have been debilitating. I would share my obsessions but even I am still trying to understand them because they seem so crazy and senseless. Im going to be starting cbt next week and doing a sleep study along with a new med called Luvox. I hope everyone is doing well and I miss you all. Just not well enough to come back...actually my dr thinks the internet is one of my obssessions atm GiLL miss you loads and loads <3 Mary

Urban Legend 0 Posted April 20, 2012 I use to have OCD when I was little. I would count to seven everytime I went out the door. This subsided once I got into my teenage years, and looking back it is something that I laugh at. I also use to pop my back evertyime I got out of my car. These rituals would often lessen the stress for the day and make me feel like I was in control, which is why so many people have OCD to being with. It is a strange disorder, but is treatable with the right therapy techniques.
prescott911 1 Posted April 20, 2012 I feel like I have acute OCD, nothing too serious. My most prevalent symptom would be my desire to control what other people do. I always want people to do things my way and even if I don't say it out loud I have a boiling urge in my body raging wanting them to things more like I do. Whether it is cooking a meal in a kitchen, driving or playing a video game. I can really irritate my friends when I get like that.

Your action is courageous and deserves to be commended. I know many people find seeking help extremely difficult, but you have made that step. It will be a long road but you are on the path to recovery. Good luck.
char2011 1 Posted April 20, 2012 I have recently overcome OCD and one of the things that did really help me was has a close friend that was there for me. If you think this site is a get away from your troubles you should keep using it no matter what your doctor says. If the Internet makes things worse or you feel a slight distress when using then its best to give it a break it will help loads.
deecee 2 Posted May 6, 2012 It really does help to find the right therapist who understands your issues. Sometimes personalities don't mesh well, or the therapist may have a particular field of expertise that doesn't match well with your needs. It is important to find the right person to help overcome your OCD.
