Overeating :(

Recommended Posts

I have started to over eat again....

I have actually been in denial about it being bad, but I have been overeating since last January, I think it occured after my Granda passed, I don't know but I do know it was January :(.

My BMI is already at 29, I am scared if I keep going I will pass 30, I know I need to loose weight to help my asthma and other things, but with this on top of the depression it won't happen.

I have no one to really talk to about this, I feel alone. Should I mention it to my doc tomorrow? What will happen?

Glad I have got this off my chest but I know this is only the beginning :(.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to mention it to your doctor pam. They may be able to give you some dietary advice.

Its ok we can help you! I think you are emotionally eating. I do do this, after a bad day I find myself reaching for the chocolate bar, and it cheers me up. I don't want to be that person, but yet, every time I am sad, chocolate is my therapist!

Don't get depressed over this. A BMI is just a ratio of height / weight. Yes it is used to indicate if you are over weight, but it is not a good measure! I am 5ft 3, and a size 8. My BMI is 30. Making me bigger than you technically. What matters is how you feel! The depression will not help the cituation, but if you feel large and that it is a problem, then only you can do something.

You can talk to your doctor it might put you at ease. They at the very least can give you soem weightloss tips! You need to try and find a way to motivate yourself, and being down on yourself isn't the way.

Me and you are the same BMI, so you are not alone! Take that as solice!

Making a small change will help your asthsma. Just taking a brisk walk a few days a week will help one hundred percent!

Also a little tip from me to you. I crave sweet things when I am depressed. So what I started doing was taking a Vitamin C chewy vitamin ever time I wanted a sweet. That way I get the sweetness I crave, but I save the calories, and get a vitamin :)

I am also guilty about overeating. I went onto a diet last year and was able to lose 50+ lbs but since then I have not been able to lose anymore and the frustration is starting to cause me to overeat. I get depressed becaise I can't lose weight but at the same time it is because I am sabataging myself. I have moments late at night where I will clear my cabinets and just eat everything I can. It doesn't even have to taste good and while I am eating it I wonder why but I am unable to stop. Its really hard to stop and its hard for me to prevent. I have good days and then I have bad days :(

I had the same problem a couple of months back when I lost my job. I was overeating because I was worrying about money and bills etc. I put on loads of weight in about a month and got really depressed about it and started not to eat anything all day everyday. It was a really tough time for me I got through it by talking about it with family and friends that where very supportive.

Your doctor can't stop you from overeating. You have fallen into the habit of using food for comfort, and the bad food is designed to be addictive. My advice would be to go 'cold turkey', cut out all sugars, grains, and dairy. Eat natural food only, lean meat, fish, lots of vegetables, fruit in moderation, nuts, and seed. Your metabolism is running on sugar, by reconfiguring your metabolism to run on protein and fat, you will no longer crave the sugar for energy. Eat good fats in the form of free range eggs, grass-fed meat, coconut, avocado, extra virgin olive oil, and grass fed butter. Limit your carbohydrate intake, most of your carbs should come from fruit and veg. Start exercising as well.

I think you should mention it to your doctor. I also like to comfort myself with food. There are times that food seems to be my only real friend. (Well it seems that way at the time) It can't comfort me like no other. I can eat for no reason at all. Full servings even if I am not feeling hungry. But the Dr can give you some medication that can help you feel better. My Dr gave me Seretonin, and it helped stop my night time eating.
