Ihadcancer 321 Posted February 25, 2023 I first thought the larger spot had been there a long time and now am second guessing myself. The pencil point sized dot looks black at the top. I'm absolutely terrified. Why does this stuff happen on the weekend when I can't call for an appointment?
Ironman 196 Posted February 26, 2023 @Ihadcancer The larger spot doesn't even look dark enough. Wouldn't that be just one of those liver spots? The smaller one isn't axisymmetric either.
MARC 430 Posted February 27, 2023 My coworker had In-Situ Melanoma on her cheek, and your spots look nothing like hers did.
Ihadcancer 321 Posted March 10, 2023 The derm's PA did a biopsy but didn't get clear margins so I have to have more removed. It was only a dysplastic nevus with mild atypical changes, but since it appeared very quickly Dr. said to remove it so we never have to worry about it. I'll have it done on March 17th. In other words, not an issue lol.
MARC 430 Posted March 12, 2023 Glad to hear you are OK.
Ihadcancer 321 Posted March 17, 2023 Had the enlarged biopsy today. The PA and her RN both kept using 'bad words' like 'pre-cancer'. I corrected them with the terms 'mildly atypical' and the PA said 'Melanoma is a 10 so this would be a 2'. Wish they'd think before speaking.
Jessi 23 Posted March 18, 2023 Did they do a punch or shave? I’m in this boat now. I had mine removed and it was moderately atypical. I’m still a mess even though they got clear margins. How often do you have to go back for checkups?

They did a 2nd shave but it was very deep and 4 weeks later there's still a crater where they shaved. I'm almost 73 so I only go if I find something. I just remember having to put Vaseline on the area and cover with a Band-Aid for about a week.
Ihadcancer 321 Posted April 25, 2023 It's a nickel sized dimple now. Sort of ugly but I have old lady arms and always wear longer sleeves. I had to use Vaseline until it was 'dry'. Never had a scab. Diane

DeannaW 18 Posted August 27, 2023 @Ihadcancer Sorry, I know this is an older post! I‘m in this boat now with a couple of older moles I had biopsied on Wednesday. Do you remember how long it took to get your initial biopsy results? I’ve diagnosed myself with melanoma and metastatic brain cancer in the 4 days it’s been lol
Ihadcancer 321 Posted August 30, 2023 About a week. It was questionable (moderate changes) so they removed the surrounding area and all was benign.
DeannaW 18 Posted August 31, 2023 @Ihadcancer Thanks for the response! They did get back to me after exactly a week and said they aren't precancerous or cancerous yet, but they recommended removing them as well, so I'll be getting that done in October.
