Can someone please calm me down? I’m so Terrified right now. I got the phizer vaccine 12 days ago, first shot. Was terrified to get it cause I won’t even take medicine. Had no issues till ten days after. Whole upper arm is red itchy and hot. Sent my doctor a picture she says it’s nothing to worry about. She said it’s called Covid arm. I read about it in line says it’s not serious. But, I’m truly scared to death, I can’t function at all. Now , I won’t want to get the second shot,

It’s just so scary looking. Do you know how long it lasted?

You're fine. I know people who had that.

It shouldn't last that long.  I did some reading from the Centers for Disease Control/Prevention, though you should not on this topic (to trigger anxiety).  I'll tell you what I found.

As davide.h said, it is actually common.  You CAN take an antihistamine for the itch or an aspirin for the pain.  I do remember being told that when I got my vaccinations.    This was back in April and May.  They also watched for immediate effects.

It also said DEFINITELY GET THE SECOND VACCINE AS DIRECTED.  But, when doing so, DEFINITELY tell the doctor that you had Covid Arm and tell him which arm it was.  They may switch arms for the other vaccine. Then, you follow the same protocol.

Again, what you are experiencing is not rare.  The fact that your reaction is delayed is also known.   Enough people have had this to know it is an effect.....not totally harmful, just uncomfortable.

I am terrified now to get the second. I did google and it said it can last as long as 21 days. I wish o could calm myself down. Thanks for Yoir response

I had Covid arm after my shots, lasted almost a month, icing it helps! Nothing to worry about at all 😊

Kindra, did you have any issues with second vaccine? Now, I’m terrified to get it!

You likely wouldn't have a worse reaction that what you have already had.

I felt completely terrible after my first shot for quite some time & people had said different things about the second shot so I was nervous it was going to be worse. I just had my second one a few days ago and I’ve hardly had any side effects compared to the first one! You’ve already done the hard part of getting the vaccine when you’re already uneasy about meds in general so just remember part 2 is equally important to make sure it’s as effective as it can be.

I didn’t have anything more severe than I had with the first shot, if anything, symptoms were less and COVID arm went away a bit quicker. You will be fine! Just make sure you move your arm around after your shot and ice it to prevent the redness and swelling 🙂

Thanks so much! This is so hard for me. I will definitely take your suggestions. Which vaccine did you get?

Thanks so much for your response . Getting this vaccine was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Then, getting Covid arm just made it worse

Don't let the CoVid arm stop you from getting the second dose.  Just let them know.  Over-the-counter stuff is supposed to work.

That'll be as bad as it gets.  Pfizer seems to be the best one out there so far.
