davide.h 26 Posted May 7, 2020 I missed a dentist's appointment early on and I have another scheduled, I think for June. I don't know if I'll be comfortable going. I've been obsessively brushing my teeth, more than three times most days. I have had gum recession in the past but after having a retainer removed and surgery, it's been better. But I can't check to make sure. And I've been sort of catastrophising, I guess. Has anyone been to the doctor or dentist since the pandemic began? What was it like? Did you feel safe? I'd really love to know.

MARC 431 Posted May 7, 2020 Around a month ago, my wife needed emergency dental surgery as she had an infection caused by a wisdom tooth. She also ended up having a dry socket. She was put on a round of antibiotics and was uncomfortable for a week or so, but has been fine ever since.
davide.h 26 Posted May 8, 2020 did you feel secure there?
MARC 431 Posted May 8, 2020 I did not go yet, but my wife was mentally unaffected.
Jennifer1 8 Posted May 11, 2020 My son's girlfriend had to get a root canal and then crown, 2 different dentists. She said they were all gowned and masked up. She felt completely safe.
Bobnnat 496 Posted May 11, 2020 I agree with what all are saying. I had a root canal, actually just as all the shut downs were occurring. I have had a tooth that needs to come out, for 6 months now and I've been able to delay it; however the discomfort is increasing and I'm having it done Friday. My wife spoke with the dentist (she loves this place as much as one can love a dental place) and was told they use the NM 95(?) masks, full gowns and all patients are spaced out by 2 hour appointments so it's literally the patient, the dentist and I guess 1 assistant, also fully gowned. Not looking forward to the oral surgery of course but I have no fear of any danger.
MARC 431 Posted May 18, 2020 After I read WebMd, I cancelled my routine dental cleaning this past Friday and rescheduled it for August.
Worriers81 0 Posted May 18, 2020 Hi, I've had to run to my doctor twice now in the past 2 months. It's nice going to the doctor now because there's minimal waiting, and at least with my doc, you're brought right into an exam room. I get the anxiety about going, but we also need to understand that we cannot put off taking care of our bodies during this time. Once you start to integrate yourself back into normal activities of life, just use your mask, and minimize touching things. Being a parent to little ones, we always have sanitizer and try to be good about not touching too many shared surfaces. Good luck!
