seven_swans 3 Posted May 30, 2019 While at work around 2PM I noticed my throat kind of felt dry. The more I focused on it, the more aggravating it became. Now my mouth and throat feel very dry. I can still salivate and such, but it just feels like I’ve been standing with my mouth open in front of an AC. I don’t have any medications I’m taking (I stopped omeprazole last week). Is it “just anxiety”? It’s been lasting for hours at this point.
bin_tenn 1252 Posted May 30, 2019 Maybe it's not even anxiety. Maybe it just happened because it happened. Because all the right conditions allowed it to happen. This happens to me as well, and when it does I just drink a bunch of water. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
seven_swans 3 Posted May 30, 2019 I’ve been chugging water to no avail. Bleh.
bin_tenn 1252 Posted May 30, 2019 Yep. Been there, done that. Some instances may last practically all day for me, but other times two bottles of water may resolve it. I've actually been experiencing the dry mouth this afternoon, water hasn't done much to help, if at all.
anxietystinks 7 Posted April 2, 2020 Ive had dry mouth for over w month.. No matter the amount of water i drink it doesnt go away.. Im a open mouth breather at night and I was blaming it on that but its gotten really severe.. Any thoughts?
Ashleyspicer84 84 Posted April 3, 2020 Try sucking on a peppermint or hard candy. They also sell mouth wash and mouth spray for people with dry mouth.
anxietystinks 7 Posted April 3, 2020 @Ashleyspicer84 thank you. I chewed gum yesterday and it helped a little.. Have you had this issue before?
JustLuca 5 Posted April 3, 2020 My meds give me constant dry mouth and I've found that chewing gum does help a lot. Drinking water doesn't seem to help too much but I've sometimes found that sports drinks are more hydrating. Being dehydrated or having too much caffeine are also possible causes. Sometimes people drink a lot of coffee or tea thinking it will hydrate them but it actually does the opposite! You could also try using a different toothpaste, there are some that will dry your mouth out more than others. The kinds that have flouride in them help a lot with dry mouth symptoms. I use a whitening toothpaste with flouride that does seem to help a lot.
anxietystinks 7 Posted April 3, 2020 @JustLuca I dont drink coffee or any type of caffeine.. I only drink water all day.. Im thinking my dry mouth is due to me sleeping with my mouth open at night. I used to wake up with dry mouth but it would go away.. Now it doesnt amd stays all day. Of course my mind is saying i have diabetes or some other condition. The cycle is unreal
JustLuca 5 Posted April 3, 2020 It could be because you're sleeping with your mouth open. That would make a lot of sense. It could also be from a medication. I completely understand being worried that it's a medical problem. The cycle is unreal, like you said. I worry about everything that happens to me too and always think it's a serious medical problem. The best thing you can do is keep asking questions 🙂 I'm sure many people here have had this happen to them and we're all here to help!
anxietystinks 7 Posted April 3, 2020 @JustLuca Yes i agree.. Also anxiety can give you dry mouth too.. I was more worried because my AC1 levels came out at 5.7 and if it goes to 5:8 it is considered pre-diabetic.. I guess thats why I was worried.. im waiting on a glucose test kit that will arrive today just so I can have a piece of mind Lol
JustLuca 5 Posted April 4, 2020 I hope your test comes out with good results! I'm sure it will be a big relief. I've been worried about diabetes for a long time as well because I'm overweight and I have weird symptoms like craving salt and frequent urination... my tests keep coming back normal though. That just goes to show that anxiety can make you believe pretty much anything, and usually not good things.
MARC 431 Posted April 4, 2020 Sometimes my mouth is so dry it is like I have a cotton ball in my mouth. I am a mouth breather and have post nasal drip and have allergy issues. I try to drink plenty of fluids which seems to help.
anxietystinks 7 Posted April 4, 2020 @MARC Yes mine feels like that all day everyday, sometimes I cant even talk since its so dry.. no matter how much water I drink.. Do you also wake up with phlegm and dry nose?? I also have allergies. I ordered a mouth guard see if that works.. @JustLuca i checked my sugar and i hadn't ate in 5 hrs and it was at 94. Now i will check 2 hours after i eat then a couple times tomorrow, if all is good, I will be done checking my sugar.
JustLuca 5 Posted April 4, 2020 Here's hoping all is well!! I also have allergies, and sometimes that does make my mouth feel more dry. It's also that time of year.
MARC 431 Posted April 4, 2020 I have phlegm quite a bit and I drink a lot to keep hydrated.
anxietystinks 7 Posted April 5, 2020 @MARC and @JustLuca @Ashleyspicer84 hey guys thanks everyone for the tips and input.. But this dry mouth is still there and getting worst.. I even checked my glucose and its normal. I drink tons of water.. But i really think I have dry mouth because I sleep with my mouth open at night. Then having anxiety on top of it makes it worst.. Every since yesterday i have been feeling weird and odd and its because i took my blood pressure and im usually within 125/85 and HR between 80-90’’s but every since yesterday my Heart rate has been in the 60-70 and that is not normal for me.. I got scared and anxiety kicked in.. Maybe is the lack of movement and exercise since I have been at home since March 6 from all this pandemic chaos.. or its my brain trying to just pick something to worry about.. First the dry mouth, then thinking i have diabetes because of the dry mouth, and now with my blood pressure. Its never ending.. Anyone relate??
