Spazmom 19 Posted January 7, 2019 I have had this emg scheduled for a while. Even though I’m feeling pretty good that I do not have als I think I may as well get it. It’s only on the right side. But for some reason I’m super nervous about it. Like borderline thinking of cancelling because I’m worried like maybe it will activate muscle issues I had before that’s led to this or that it’s just dumb and unnecessary if I don’t have clinical weakness or even twitching really anymore. What’s everyone experience with EMGs?
Leah1976 301 Posted January 7, 2019 I had one done because of numbness in my hands.... it was fine, no biggie... get it done and you'll feel much better afterwards!

Spazmom 19 Posted January 7, 2019 Okay!! I’m just so worried I’d like it messes with my muscles and I sink back into the als fears I’ll spend more months in the dark hole and never get back out 🤦🏼♀️
Cubanborn87 42 Posted January 7, 2019 Definitely get it done, I have one scheduled for January 31st and I am super nervous about it. But, if I pass it I know it will really help with the anxiety I am currently experiencing.

Spazmom 19 Posted January 7, 2019 First of all nerve conduction studies are for the birds. Thank junk was weird. Secondly I do not have als. We only did my right side but he did an extensive exam of all my reflexes again. He was like so confiendent no als. This is the third time I’ve had a reflex exam so I’m feeling good about all that. Thirdly - I walked back out into the waiting room and a gal was in a wheelchair. I don’t think it was als but I have no idea but it made me feel like a dumb shit anyway when all my parts are working and deep in my soul I knew it was anxiety. Going to try and go on about my life and tackle anxiety. Would anyone want me to do a post of everything that happened from first symptom to right now? Don’t want to trigger anyone but thought maybe it may have valuable Info.

Jremtx 121 Posted January 8, 2019 @Spazmom congrats. I’m happy for you, and yes I think you should. It will give more people of ease of mind honestly and instead of checking “A” forums they can come here and learn. Do it
Spazmom 19 Posted January 8, 2019 @A11yance nah he said they looked normal. Subtle but there. You don’t want them to do nothing I think, and you don’t want to kick a hole in the wall either. Somewhere inbewteen is normal, to some that may look hyper reflexive but I think als patients it’s like whoa noticeable. About to post the whole story in a new thread. Warning it’s long.
