Hi.  This is me with an awkward introduction :) I'm a single mama to an 11-going-on-15 year old with severe ADHD and ODD as well as a history of trauma resulting in some bonus anger and emotional issues.  We have been through the ringer and I have been managing too much completely on my own for way too long.  We've always had high stress and struggles but I have always thought of myself as resilient - a 'git' er done girl', but 4 years ago I developed GAD and started having panic attacks and depression which make all the rest so much more overwhelming.

I'm currently off work briefly as my anxiety and stress have been spinning out of control, I haven't been eating or resting well, and I'm run down and exhausted.  I'm looking for somewhere to come for support and to be supportive while I try to work my way back up to some peace.

Hi. hazydaizee.

You have come to the right place. Welcome to AC. :).

We all know and understand how you feel because we have all been there or are there. Of course it's all the extra load you have carried for so long that has led to your present anxiety. There is just so much anyone can take and we come to the end of our tether. You can think yourself to be the strongest person going, but there are limits for everyone. ADHD is very difficult to live with, but you know that, and takes a lot of energy to cope from any carer. It stands to reason that you will reach a limit.

I'm looking for somewhere to come for support and to be supportive while I try to work my way back up to some peace.

Then I suggest you have found it. You can feel free to have a good moan and vent whenever you want. No criticism or judgement here. Look around the site and see how others have coped. It does pass you know. It takes time but it always does, But it does take effort and understanding. 'To be supportive'. Yes indeed. This is a mutual help site and by sharing we learn. I sincerely hope you feel better soon. Are you in any medication? It can help a lot in the short term. Best wishes.
