sphinx 0 Posted May 1, 2012 OK please tell me I am not the only one who enjoys the odd glass or 2 of alcoholic beverage? I particularly enjoy red wines, especially Shiraz, and Merlot, real ales in all their variety, and Whiskey. Those last 2 can cause some odd moments as there are still pub landlords who think ale drinkers must be male, at least 45, and have a proper beard - they get nervous when my partner asks for a pint of "dank dungeon" or whatever the local special is because he is young and clean shaven - if I try and order a pint they risk collapsing from shock. Whiskey is worse because if I am drinking it (not often its expensive in pubs) I have it neat with no ice the way you should do. So what do other people enjoy drinkwise? JOYCICLE 654 Posted May 1, 2012 My drinking days are long gone, but it's funny you mention all that. Here men and women of all ages enjoy ' SHOTS" of whiskey , tequila, vodka, whatever. no one thinks anything of what someone is drinking. In fact I would say that WINE is the least served in most bars/ pubs. Folks have wine with dinner but when yu go to a bar , its for serious drinking ! shaun 6 Posted May 2, 2012 I used to enjoy drinking. I like cider from Normandy, it was so refreshing, like drinking the best apple juice. I have never liked spirits. I liked drinking decent dark ales, and I also enjoyed drinking red wine. I no longer drink for physical and mental health reasons, plus I have seen what alcohol has done to my Dad. If I got drunk now I would suffer a very harsh hangover for days because my body is not used to it.
sphinx 0 Posted May 2, 2012 I think I am lucky in that respect - my body does not do hangovers even when younger if I really went wild. I think excess drinking is a big no no and I cannot understand this seeming modern fashion that to have a good night you must reach the point of vomiting. I only ever did that twice - once deliberately as an experiment, and one when drinks were spiked. I hated and do hate being that drunk - but a couple of pints or a glass of scotch or wine now and again I enjoy.

difrancprod 3 Posted May 3, 2012 Unfortunately, I am allergic to beer! The last time I had was when I was 19 and a friend of mine gave me a glass, a took a sip and the next thing I know I can't breathe and was rushed to the hospital. Apparently, my body has a bad chemical reaction with beer! But oddly, I'm not allergic to wines. So yes, I'm stuck on drinking wines. I love the red ones though. sphinx 0 Posted May 4, 2012 Nothing like a good red - its a real taste treat.
Dawn 1 Posted May 5, 2012 I love a glass of white wine, or three, or four, or more. In fact just give me the bottle and I'll be as happy as Larry. Not had any for a while though as I'm trying to diet, but just thinking about it is causing me a problem!
deecee 2 Posted May 9, 2012 I like the random drink now and then. I prefer red over white wine, but I'm more likely to have a beer. As little as I drink, a bottle of wine lasts a long time, even if I dump a little in the spaghetti sauce.
Jailynnsgrandma 0 Posted May 12, 2012 I will have a drink every once in a while. Usually something that tastes fruity. I do not like the taste of alcohol, it has to be hidden. I do like Mike's Lemonade though I haven't had it in years.

Wow, I never knew someone could actually be allergic to beer! Anyways, I drink "randomly". I'll drink whenever I feel like it, which is not often really. I've had a bad experience getting drunk once, so I wouldn't go that far now. I'd enjoy wine on family occasions such as Christmas or New Year or whatever. I would never drink something full on hard in front of my family, they forbid me to do this drinking thing. With my friends from another place, if we decide to have a "drinking session", it's usually beer, vodka and brandy. If it's with my circle of friends here in my area though we pretty much would go from vodka to whiskey and pretty much anything we can get.
SarahLizzie 2 Posted May 25, 2012 I used to love to drink, but we took it a little to far. Now I have one drink one in a blue moon. I tend to stick with vodka, especially a good screw driver, mmmmm. To many other liquors and beer even, upset my stomach by the end of the first drink.
Texy 13 Posted May 25, 2012 Well, I used to be quite the partier back in the day but not so much anymore. A friend and I used to go to the bar, go sit at Denny's until like 4 or 5am, go home, sleep and then do it all over again LOL, man those were the days!! Now I am what most would consider a light weight LOL, one or two drinks and im finished lol. I am not a beer or wine fan though. I like these little bottled drinks called Mudslides, they are yummy and I also like Caesar's which are like Bloody Marys but made with Clamato juice.....soooo good. As to the person with the beer allergy, I have a friend back home in Texas who is allergic to Hops therefore she can't drink beer either.
