Stomach Issues and worried

Recommended Posts

Hey Folks…I have been freaking out last few days. I have been getting this gnawing feeling in top of stomach right below where ribcage meets. It seems to get worse as day goes on. It also feel like I am constantly hungry, that I can eat and I am ok for like 30 min and the feeling comes back. I also get bloated and burp and get gassy, almost like palpation too. I went through something like this a year ago, I had h-pylori infection and did triple antibiotic and eventually went away. I never feel heartburn per say. I was doing fine for about 13 months and then I got Covid two weeks ago, after Covid this feeling came back. I was taking Betaine for low stomach acid but I don’t think this is it. Anyway I am freaking out bc I am worrying about stomach cancer. I am a 46 year old male in fairly good shape but I have always had stomach concerns since I was little. I have two little daughters and fear I wont see them grow up. I am really down, I thought I was over this bought 13 months ago and now it is back. This scares me a ton. I wake up feeling fine, but it starts once I get going and either eat something or have coffee. I do feel better when I am standing up or walking.

My GI physician has told me stomach cancer is rare and mostly seen in the elderly

I literally have the exact same thing right now. Have for a few weeks. I went to a PA who told me it was likely an infection that my stomach is still healing from which was causing heartburn. Mine has slowly improved taking PPIs. I’d suggest that and chill for awhile. See if it improves.

We are the same age.  The anxiety can take things in many directions.  Getting to the point where you worry about not seeing your daughters grow up is a concern.

The only time I have had issues with my stomach was with the lockdown.  I am usually pretty active, but the threat of $750 fine for being caught outside without a mask by the police - to someone with anxiety who runs the streets in the city (literally), I went from active to sedentary for six weeks.  Upon trying to get back into shape, I actually had to take an antacid in the initial weeks because the stomach acid would bubble up and cause heartburn.  In 20 years (at the time - this was 2020) of exercise, that had NEVER happened to me.  Fortunately, it eventually passed and I could run with an antacid.  Come to think of it - I did have coffee before the runs!  Coffee contains acid and so does many foods.  I have a feeling that this will eventually pass for you.  Anxiety can dredge up extra symptoms to make you think something is worse than it is.

I think its the gnawing symptom that scares me. It went away Friday through Sunday and is back this morning.

I get the gnawing feeling myself and I have had many tests and no serious cause has ever been found.

I finally talked to another doctor on Saturday and he agreed with my initial assessment from the PA I visited a few weeks ago.  Sounds like some inflammation from an infection I had in my stomach.  He gave me stronger PPIs to take for two weeks.  I am three days in and it feels far better already.  These types of things are common sadly.  The gnawing feeling generally is the acid in your stomach against inflammation.  Just FYI.

Yep - anxety, or just stress, can cause the acid to increase activity a bit.  Any irritation would make feelings worse.

@sTeaLth  I am glad you are getting relief.  It's not a very good feeling to endure.

If you need money to eat, I will send you $50 through Venmo or PayPal. Just send me your address. No need to pay me back either. Just consider it a gift. I don't want to see anyone go without food.

Likewise....this inflation stuff is a mess.  People going hungry because inflation is not cool even if I have leftover Paxil and Cymbalta fat.

Having no life has its advantages, but it's a mess too.

GERD is treatable, so that's cool, too.

I did tonight but save every penny. I am a delivery driver and wish I could afford all the nice food my customers get.

I am glad to hear this.  As you can tell, we do worry and hope you can save enough.  We can help if things get really bad.
