Worried about CBC Results

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am a new member here and I was hoping to get some reassurance. A little about me, I have been suffering from healthy anxiety now for about 10 years. It started with a colon cancer scare (10 years ago) that obviously really scared me, but I have never been the same since. My big thing is cancer. I am petrified of it and any little thing that pops up or is not normal with me, I immediately jump to cancer. My latest worry.....leukemia. I had a routine CBC a few weeks ago.  Below are the results. My lymphocytes have been going up over the years, and my neutrophils have been going lower over the past few years. Of course I looked this up and all I see is leukemia. Can someone please talk me down. I am in a panic about this. I called the doctor and he doesn't seem overly worried about it but at the same time, I noticed a little hesitancy in his voice. Not sure if I am interpreting his reaction as something I should worry about or I am just being crazy. Anyone else here have fluctuating CBC counts over the years?? Thanks for any and all support/help!

Welcome to the forum. My physician told me that it does not matter if one result is high. He said it matters if many results are low or high, or in certain combinations.  In your case, only one result is marginally high, so I would not be concerned.

My God, those are fantastic results. Are you serious worrying about that? Leukaemia would not just have slightly off numbers, your platelets, WBC and other readings would be off the charts.  Believe me, I’m the king of HA, so I understand the fear, the reading into every word or intonation the doctor makes, but jeez, those results are so clean you could eat off them.

By the way, F—K Google.

All these numbers fluctuate on a daily basis. If you were to check them every day, the results would be different each time; sometimes by quite a bit. That's just how the body work.

Everything was fine.  I was worried about the doctor screaming about cholesterol, but that didn't happen. :)
