Ashleyspicer84 84 Posted January 7, 2020 Is anyone else horrified of getting the flu? I’m not only scared for my self but for my two kids. I got them the flu shot but I couldn’t bring myself to take it because I have a very irrational fear of allergic reactions (even though I’m allergic to NOTHING). Seems like all they talk about this time of year is how many people are dead from flu related illnesses. Scares me to death. My daughter had it in 2017 and she completely recovered in 5 days thank god but my 5 year old is prone to getting pneumonia and I worry about him alot. Tomorrow it’s their first day back at school and I do not want to send them at all. If I had my way I’d keep them home the whole flu season.
Mrsrpmddo 222 Posted January 8, 2020 Me and you are the same person haha. I’m terrified of flu, I will hardly let anyone come to my house during flu season, I also won’t get shot cause of my fear of allergic reactions.
Ashleyspicer84 84 Posted January 8, 2020 Haha. I hear ya. I was so scared at Christmas when all my family was at my house for a week that someone was going to get the flu and then everyone was going to have it. I kept spraying disinfectant everywhere and put out bottles of hand sanitizer on all the tables. 🤣
bin_tenn 1252 Posted January 8, 2020 Deaths from the flu aren't the norm, hence the media report those deaths often. I've never known anyone personally for as long as I've lived who's died from the flu, elderly and very young alike. And most people I know have had the flu more than once.
jonathan123 2368 Posted January 8, 2020 Oh Yes!!! It's the old journalist's phrase that comes to mind. 'Good news is not news' !! We rarely hear of the thousands of good results from the medics who perform some often miraculous operations, but when something goes wrong it's all over the front page. We are a funny old lot and no mistake.

MARC 431 Posted January 11, 2020 Any bad news makes headlines and is talked about continuously. There was a study done once where only good news was reported on and no one watched or listened to it. 1
