Ladies I have a period question

Recommended Posts

Ok today makes day 9 of my period. It was completely normal until yesterday and I thought I was almost done with it. I started bleeding heavy yesterday along with clots. I am not soaking through a pad. I mainly bleed the most when I am going to the bathroom. When I wipe it’s just terrible. I am super scared.

I learned over the last 8 years that there are many things that can cause weird bleeding that are not dangerous at all.

May I ask your age?

I am sorry you're dealing with this because I know how frustrating it is.

This month, I thought I was only 2 days late for my period. Then I started light bleeding and spotting. I thought I was about to start my normal period, but no. I had no cramping, which never happens for me. That went on for 11 days. Then, I started my real period with cramping and all on day 12. So I was actually 14 days late. That went on for 3 days, then stopped for a day, spotted another day, then stopped a day, and finally spotted the last day. So all total, it was about 18 days. Had an ultrasound, was normal, exam was normal. It ended up just being hormones and stress evidently.

She said it can be caused by polyps and fibroids also, but I didn't have either.

I am 42 and I have had perimenopause symptoms, including the irregular periods on and off since I was about your age. My Dr at the time told me I was too young. But I stopped seeing him and went to a NP. She told me I wasn't too young because she herself went through full menopause at 43. It helps to have a practitioner who can empathize with you.

I am glad I went in and had the ultrasound because even though it made my HA skyrocket, after it was over I could finally stop thinking about it all the time.

Praying you get some relief soon!

Umm what’s the question?

I had period issues. I was always told to give it three months. See how I do. If by the next period everything was fine then nothing needed to be done. It’s just an odd month.

The human body is weird. Sometimes periods will last longer, will be shorter, will be heavier or be lighter for a multitude of reasons. Most are harmless. Certain medications, stress, hormone imbalances, etc. if you start getting severe cramps, you bleed through your pad or if the bleeding continues for I’d say 2 weeks or longer then I would see a doctor about it. You are most likely fine, though :)

I barely bleed on the pad. I bleed a ton when I go to the bathroom. I guess I didn’t really have a specific question. I just wanted to know if this was something anyone else has been through.

This is exactly what I was doing also on the spotting only days.

From what I read online and talking to people I know its pretty common.

Thank you. I took 3 Advil and it’s slowed down a little. Still has me on edge, though.

Lovely!! Listen as long as I can be told it’s absolutely normal I think I will be ok. My anxiety brain has me thinking the worse.

Yep me too, it's good to check in with your dr so she/he is aware of the changes in your cycle but you'll probably be told the same thing I was .. it's that time.

I really appreciate it. I can’t take birth control so I will probably just have to learn to deal with it!

Ugh, you poor thing.  My periods were wacky even before I grew a fibroid; at our age it can just be hormonal.  If this becomes a regular thing, get it checked, because it might be something treatable (and therefore you could avoid the extra bleeding), but give it a couple of months first!

I have an appointment on Monday with the gynecologist. It’s back to bright red again but they said as long as I am not filling up a pad (which I am not) that I should be ok.

Me either.

Thinking about you today, I remember that the bleeding caused me some of the worst anxiety of my life. I thought only 1 thing would cause irregular bleeding and it would be the death of me. I was so very wrong.

I'm glad you're going it's good to keep your dr in the loop and get reassurance

I know, been there. At this point you need some answers to calm you.

When your hormones are not in sync, the on/off button doesn't work very well.

I'm glad you are going to the Dr about this, not because I think anything is wrong, but just because it will make you feel better. I finally went cause I was tired of worrying about it. My spotting had almost stopped at that point but I went anyway instead of cancelling cause I wanted to be able to stop thinking about it.

Let us know how it goes! Praying for you!

I bled for 49 days, it still turned out to be not serious.

Is your dr apt tomorrow?
