tightness front ribcage

Recommended Posts

Please help .  I am in such a state of fear.  I have had pains, aroubd my ribcage for about a year.  Have had several x rays, scans ecg etc.  A couple of days ago I noticed a tight almost pulling feeling below my left breast over the ribcage.  It is not a pain exactly just an odd feeling.  I am terrified I have cancer in my ribcage.  It does not bother me at night but I am so aware of it.  Have had acupuncture for the other pains which helped a bit for a while.  It just feels tight but not all around just on the front cartilidge part of ribcage below the breast.

Does anyone else suffer with this.

Am so scared and I know you guys unnderstand.

Hi Maria. I've had this before. I had it for a good month.. I went to the e.r. Bec I was just thinking worse case stuff. I got a CT and everything was normal. After I left the e.r. I never felt it again. The mind is a powerful thing. If you are focusing on your ribs.. your going to start feeling things.. it could be normal every day body functions. Could be gas too.. could be pulled muscle.. or nothing at all.

Hugs. I know how you feel. You have been checked and everything IS ok.

Also Maria, if this were anything serious, you can bet you would feel the pain at night. Cancer pain, when it causes pain, does not occur during only one time of the day.

Holls is right, if you think about it you'll feel it, so don't start "looking" for the pain at night, because your mind will see to it that you find it; except that will be anxiety induced pain.

Muscle tension is likely, IMO. So is GERD. Do you have any issues with acid reflux?
