Reilly 8 Posted August 3, 2017 For the past almost month and a half I've been experiencing pain that radiates from my right next to my hip bone (like from the back not the front) and down into my knee at times. The pain is dull and usually starts when I'm about an hour into a shift at work. I work at a restaurants and I work 30-40 hours a week and I usually don't get a break during shifts. Sometimes the pain will just randomly start up while I'm relaxing at home and it almost feels like a growing pain, and other times when I get up to walk on it, it feels like jello. You would also think that I would be experiencing this in the other leg as well. Pain is a normal thing in most peoples lives but I'm only 18 and I didn't have any problems until recently and I've worked at this same place for over 2 years. My mind wonders to things like bone caner or MS or maybe even ALS. It shouldn't be normal for someone my age to be experiencing pain on a daily basis. Mocha1 42 Posted August 3, 2017 Sounds like IT band syndrome. Look it up. It's common in runners, and since you are on your feet a lot it could be that.
Holls 1505 Posted August 3, 2017 It doesn't have to be in both legs. When I was a bank teller and stood all day one leg took the brunt, I would put my hip out and all my weight would go to the other leg. I was young then too.. 18,19. Shoes make a big difference too. No sweetie don't even think cancer, absolutely no MS or ALS. I'm an als worrier and nothing you said sounds anything like it or Ms.

I am obsessed with ALS and MS LOL and your symptoms do not even remotely sound like either of those two diseases. Get those out of your mind. IT Band syndrome is a definite possibility, but there could be many other non-serious orthopedic issues. Consider some hip/glute/quadriceps strengthening and stretching exercises, warm baths, etc. But I truly see nothing sinister here.
Holls 1505 Posted August 4, 2017 I never found a solution some nights I would seriously cry because I was hurting so bad. Tylenol didn't help. Wearing comfortable shoes made it better and Epsom salt baths. Sorry. I think some of us can tolerate standing up all day and some of us just can't. You will find what works for you but mainly don't not your mind tell you it's something bad.
Lucid 41 Posted August 4, 2017 Hey Reilly:)I have chronic back pain and everything Holls has said I agree with 100 percent. Comfortable shoes,Epson salt baths (Chamomile),applying hot and cold, massage therapy, accupuncture whatever works! Lol It could be something as common as a pinched nerve. Gl:)
