Grad Student With Panic

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Just want to say thank you for providing such a warm and thoughtful forum in discussing mental health. I was formerly an active member of anxietyzone.com before it was shut down, and for many years did not really have a place to go. I'm a doctoral student ironically studying clinical psychology- finding a means to express my emotions without judgment is difficult, given that most providers don't wish to deal with trainees in the field. This site seems warm and accepting. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Well, thank you. Kind words indeed. It's a strange thing but I have met many students of psychology who have problems with anxiety. If you are a sensitive person, and most sufferers from anxiety are, it may be you pick up a lot of negative stuff during training. I don't know; that's just my opinion. No one on this site will ever judge or criticise, no way. We have all been there and know exactly how you feel.

Why would providers not want to deal with trainees in psychology? You could be studying agriculture, so what!! I don't see why that should be, after all, it's just another subject!  Anyway, have a good look round the site and come back and talk whenever you wish. Good to have you on board.

Hey Tune, Welcome ~

I will just add that with ZERO medical schooling, I feel from meeting many here and in the world with anxiety issues and hearing the stories of their doctors and meds and treatments, that the psyche field is almost completely clueless and useless and possibly even detrimental to a lot of people.  That's my two cents and it's not popular but they seem to be going about it all wrong.  I hope you can learn and get it right for the future generations.
