LouAnne 5 Posted October 3, 2016 I've been yawning a lot, googled it & now it says it can be a symptom of heart problems. My heart is my main health anxiety issue I've thought somethings been wrong for over a year even after tests & now I feel really anxious! I have GAD & health anxiety. jonathan123 2368 Posted October 3, 2016 Hi LouAnne. Now you know better than that. Yawning can be a symptom of a heart problem!!!!!!!!!???? For God's sake!! Where the hell do these guys on Google come from. The planet Mars I should think. Or could it be that you are anxious and overtired. Yawning is a message from the brain to the lungs telling you it needs more oxygen. THAT'S ALL. Nothing at all to be concerned about whatsoever. I bet that page on Google had some wonderful remedies for it, or suggestions about expensive checkups. Go by the tests and NOT Dr.Google.
LouAnne 5 Posted October 3, 2016 Thanks Jon, when I read my post back to myself I thought about how ridiculous it sounded but at the same time when your in that anxious state thoughts take over ?
BrokenArrow 52 Posted October 3, 2016 I can relate to you Lou. When I was big into doctor google I used to find ridiculous things all the time and feed off them. I found things that headaches could be a sign of stomach c****r. I found that s sore throat could be stomach c****r. Basically I found that everything ever could be a sign of stomach related issues. Obviously that is my big fear. They just make it sound so convincing. I don't really know much about actual medical things and when you google something and it gives you an article about what you are feeling you assume it must be real. However, thinking logically, SOMEONE had to write that article. We know nothing about them or their credentials it could just be some random asshole that is trying to sell his product or offer you some service. I could write an article that eating apples makes your nose fall off. Someone will interpret it as truth. The only person you should feel confident about listening to about your health is your doctor. Google has never once calmed me down. Stay away from it, you'll feel a lot better.
jonathan123 2368 Posted October 4, 2016 I could write an article that eating apples makes your nose fall off. Someone will interpret it as truth. Yes BA and that is the truth!! NOTHING is ever silly, stupid, ridiculous or incredible in anxiety. We all see and interpret things in different ways. What frightens one would be shrugged off by another. This is why it's wrong to generalise. Anxiety is relative to the person who has it and the varieties are many. But, of course, the common denominator is FEAR. THAT is always at the root of anxiety. Yes LouAnne, thoughts do take over. It's as if we lose any vestige of logic or reason. But that's anxiety!! If we could be logical and reason things out then we would not be anxious, would we? That's why accepting and not trying to be logical or reasoning is the best way. It does seem the more effort we make the more we get in a state. The old saying, "When in a hole stop digging" comes to mind. Just giving up and accepting reduses the flow of adrenaline, because its that which sustains anxiety. Some might say, well, remove the adrenal glands and all would be well. Oh yeah!! There would be no response to danger, and you would walk in front of a bus without hesitation. So we do need fear, but within NORMAL limits. Ours is exaggerated. But you know that.
JOYCICLE 654 Posted October 4, 2016 i yawn extra when I'm anxious. I do everything extra when anxious, extra breathing, extra peeing, extra yawning, extra eating. When we are anxious our bodies are at a HIGH level of tension inside. It's as if we're living 3 hours in a 60 minutes time span ( non scientific numbers here , for example) So anything you would normally can be accelerated .
Alexandria 13 Posted October 4, 2016 Your body can yawn more also when you're anxious- I only found this out a few years ago and I was in the same thought process as you!
Snowbunnyface 31 Posted October 8, 2016 I too have experienced excessive yawning as a result of needing oxygen because I was shallow breathing due to being anxious. I thought this was the most harmless symptom I've had! Infact i used to freak out when I wasn't yawning because it means I'm tired because I have a disease not just because I need to sleep. The absence of yawning freaked me out! Haha. You'll be fine.
Valkyrie 15 Posted October 10, 2016 When I started attending some meditative yoga sessions, the teacher always mentioned how yawning was good because your body wants more oxygen, so you should embrace it and breathe deep and full and get your body the oxygen you deserve
