Ihadcancer 319 Posted November 6, 2022 I've had it all for about 2 weeks. Today I was SURE lymph nodes under my arm were swollen. Earlier in the week I had pitting edema and had an appt with an ortho surgeon regarding foot and heel pain for many months. He did all sorts of tests and told me I was badly dehydrated. Yearly bloodwork is coming up and I'm worried kidney function might be bad. I wish I could find a psyc who has had health issues so they'd understand my chronic disease ptsd from 2 bouts of cancer (Stage IV colon). Any suggestions? Did the doctor who told you about the dehydration offer any advice? I had to look this up because you said "edema" and thought of my mother, but her situation was the opposite - she drank way too much water and didn't move enough. In your situation, it says that dehydration is because your edema was pulling water away from your body and swelling up those areas. That water business also happens when we have diarrhea - water is pulled from the body to flush out the intestines. That's why people are warned to stay hydrated when having diarrhea - water is lost in the flush. Bottom line - I am not sure your kidneys are the problem. Salt intake may be an issue, though, which can help retain water.
Ihadcancer 319 Posted November 6, 2022 I had a broken tooth and had to wait a week for the extraction. I was drinking less than 6 ounces a day. I increased my water intake and it went right away.

They blamed it on dehydration in the ER. If everyhting is fine in that area, your kidneys are good. They were probably having conniptions from lack of water. Your urine color should help you determine how water is. You were likely not going much if at all before.
MARC 425 Posted November 6, 2022 Back in June 2021, I had a horrible virus and ended up in the ER due to vomiting and pain which radiated from my abdomen to my back. I lost 10 pounds in one day and they did multiple tests on me which included CT scans of my abdomen and pelvis, blood work and checked my cardiac enzymes due to my fast pulse rate as I was dehydrated. The ER physician and my concierge physician told me to drink Powerade with no sugar and it helped hydrate me immensely. I now drink it every day.
Ihadcancer 319 Posted November 8, 2022 My blood work came back with low sodium/ chloride. I'd started drinking 64 ounces of water a day and my anxiety and big hole from the extraction of the broken molar has ruined my appetite. I'd stopped using any salt. Doctor wants to re do the test in 2 weeks. Kidney numbers were great.
