davide.h 26 Posted July 7, 2022 I’ve been without my reflux meds for a week or so but am using an over the counter that doesn’t work as well. That burning sensation is mostly gone but I’ve got a nagging cough like a congestion cough still. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
davide.h 26 Posted July 8, 2022 Really scared it might be cancer
sTeaLth 238 Posted July 8, 2022 I’ve had GERD off and on for years. It’s super common. Especially if you eat or have eaten poorly recently. I wouldn’t worry. Just try to eat better. Drink lots of water. Get plenty of sleep. Etc.

MARC 431 Posted July 8, 2022 It would be wise to end all speculation and see a GI physician.
davide.h 26 Posted July 8, 2022 I’m trying to calm myself by checking the facts. I’ve had acid reflux for a long time and cancer is uncommon at my age. I’m 38. Plus I’m off my prescription meds, I just am scared that the over the counter stuff isn’t working as well as I’d hoped
Ironman 198 Posted July 8, 2022 It might be partly due to stress and then the not eating enough.
davide.h 26 Posted July 8, 2022 My pharmacy said there is a shortage of my meds so there will be a delay
Ironman 198 Posted July 9, 2022 @davide.hStay in contact with your pharmacy! They will eventually get your meds.
davide.h 26 Posted July 12, 2022 Still no meds. My cough is getting better but still feels as though my esophagus is irritated
Ironman 198 Posted July 13, 2022 It's part of the GERD :(. Water might help a bit with the acid.
davide.h 26 Posted July 14, 2022 I'm waiting for a COVID test. Kinda hoping it will be positive. At least then I will know.

Try to eat and drink things are might neutralize acid until then.
MARC 431 Posted July 14, 2022 Over the counter medicine such as TUMS will help. Our GI physician has told my wife to use them in addition to OTC medicines such as Prilosec and Nexium, if symptoms persist.
davide.h 26 Posted July 15, 2022 COVID test was negative. Honestly wasn't what I hoped for. 😫

TUMS works - when I started running after the Corona mask law, I had heartburn really bad, and taking a TUMS before running stopped it. It might help with GERD.
