Beginning a new benzo soon

Recommended Posts

TW: Cancer

Here is the quote from ZenCube that made me taper off clonozepam. I have not spoken to a doctor since then that has confirmed this. My insurance sadly would not pay for an MRI 😥

The good stuff about benzos is that we use them against health anxiety while they are carcinogenic through the roof. A Taiwan study had them increasing the risk of glioblastoma by 1000%. Nice and cosy aren't they? One has to use the shortest benzo regimen possible and rely on other drugs as to bring down anxiety. Antihistamines can work to that end, albeit less potent. The best way is to make use of relaxation techniques based on breathing. They work if you are serious about training daily .

And what did your Doctor say?

Like I said, that insurance would not cover it. 😔

Didn't ask about MRI. What does your doctor think about your anxiety over your medicine? If your doctor thought a test was needed he would run it through insurance.

He actually advised me not to taper off benzos.

Please listen to your doctor over random internet advise in regards to medicine. It’s good to get peoples experiences - but don’t go off them based off posts.

Well don't make me sound stupid. Fear can override better judgment at times. Having lost a friend from high school to brain cancer I know what it does and I didn't want to take risks.

That's not the issue.

I was on Paxil for 15 years.....and even with doctor assisted transfer from Paxil to Cymbalta that took eight weeks - I had withdrawal symptoms.  Lockjaw,  One side of my jaw was literally muscularly shut just like tetanus!  Doctors have to watch for this whenever a patient goes off a medication.  That lockjaw lasted a month!  I couldn't chew out of the left side of my mouth - it hurt to even try and open my jaw!

I'm sorry. 😥

No worries.  I am just saying that you shouldn't just go off your meds without talking to your doctor.  They know the back story on the meds.

I very seriously doubt that you are going to get brain cancer from meds.  I think that's a trick of your mind.  The doctor would not prescribe a carcinogen medication.

There's no way that can be true. I don't believe it unless I can read it in the original study. Like I said, I've searched and I can find no such study.

i regret today that post I made about benzos.I was trying to help but sometimes good will breeds bad decisions. While still true in a sole and pure scientifically regard (benzos on the long run not being healthy) my statement was inappropriate when addressing peeps going through hard times and relying on these drugs to seek relief.Follow your docror's words and advice.

I didn't wanna fuck around with brain cancer. A school friend of mine died of it when he was 16. I know what it can do to you.

Withdrawing from it was without exaggeration the hardest thing I've ever done. 2021 has been the darkest year of my life and considering what some other years have been like that's quite something. Right now I am dreading winter. Last winter was the hardest.
