Albertina Geller 3 Posted October 27, 2020 It looks like thanatophobia also known as death anxiety in this people fear of own death or the process of dying. What is your age usually death anxiety peaks in 20s and it fades away as you get older. You should talk to your therapist that will help you a lot, you can also try meditation and breathing techniques that will help you with anxiety and over time these techniques may help you reduce your fears. TurnipPatty 1 Posted March 19, 2021 Death anxiety is a common form of anxiety that affects many people, and luckily there are methods to help combat and alleviate this fear. Often the most used methods is therapy or counselling. Although this is more long-term and is by no means a ‘quick-fix’, the effects and techniques taught can be incredibly beneficial and long-lasting for sufferers of death anxiety. However, as therapy is inaccessible for some people, there are other ways to reduce death anxiety. The first is that avoiding the subject isn’t advisable. Unfortunately, death will happen, and by actively trying to avoid these thoughts, it makes the sufferer hyper-aware of them, increasing the anxiety in the long run. By accepting these anxieties and embracing them, it can help to decrease the effect of them over time. This can seem like a terrifying concept, as paying attention to the thoughts creates further anxiety, but over time, this dissipates and an overall reduction in death anxiety can be seen.
