Gilly 1086 Posted June 11, 2013 Yes rosie I get it often, the lightheaded woozy feeling. And a feeling of being off balance and sometimes like I will fall over, and like I am sinking too. Our nervous system is in overload, and nerves are EVERYWHERE. Including in our eyes and ears. It is a very common symptom and the more you worry about it and focus on it it feels worse. I have it it for weeks at a time too. If your doctor has said you have anxiety you have to believe it and accept the symptoms are from that. I know it's scary, I know its confusing but anxiety can do literally anything. I usually get the feeling the more stressed I have been.
jonathan123 2368 Posted June 11, 2013 What causes it, rosie? In our ears are two delicate pieces of equipment that work together to keep us upright. Remember, man has not always walked upright. So we need something to give us balance. In a nervous disorder the nerves in the ear cause pressure on these organs of balance and give the IMPRESSION we are going to fall over (we never do!). A lot of people get dizzy spells due to an ear infection or wax in the ear but do not fasten on to the symptoms and get worried about them as we do. It is the WORRY that causes the problem not the actual complaint. Can you see that rosie? As Gilly says the more you focus on it the worse it gets. I KNOW how difficult this is but TRY and accept it as bad as it seems. Don't add fuel to the fire by getting in a state. Have you had your ears checked? Get the nurse or doctor to have a look inside them. Do your best to accept how you feel FOR THE MOMENT. J.
Jord 28 Posted June 11, 2013 http://www.livingwithanxiety.com/living-with-anxiety-newsletter-december.htm Stress Stress is one of the number one causes of dizziness. Over half the cases reported stress is the cause. When a person feels stressed most start to hyperventilate, which is caused by taking short shallow breaths. Taking breaths like this causes the arteries to contract. This means that less blood reaches the brain and other parts of the body. So not only do you feel dizzy, but a person can feel numbness in fingers and toes. If you have went to the doctor, and he has ruled out all physical problems, you can try breathing techniques to help control or stop attacks. Anxiety Disorders Doctors once thought that hyperventilation led to lightheadedness, dizziness, or vertigo that generally comes with a panic attack. Recently, new research shows that as many as 40% of people who suffer with anxiety attacks have an inner ear abnormality. This means in some it could be the reason for the dizziness. In most it is set off by vision. Like being in a busy chaotic situation, like a restaurant, grocery store, or shopping mall, which is what causes a panic attack. Because dizziness may be very difficult to understand, it may be a good start for anxiety suffers to seek the help of a inner ear specialist for an evaluation. Treatment may also include taking a anxiety medication.

JOYCICLE 654 Posted June 26, 2013 Yep , the ears dictate balance and a slight variation in them can cause that. i have it SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO often it's not even funny. You just have to prime yourself for the sensation and it won't be so scary. You have to get to a place where you can say ' oh dizziness,,,,,,,,,,,whatever' and go on with your day. If you do that often enough, the symptoms will subside. You'll make it!
