  1. Hi flip. Further to the comments above I found sertraline made me worse (anxiety, insomnia, restless, dizzy) for about 1-2 weeks when I first started taking it, and then again when I upped the dose... It got a lot better after 2-3 weeks in both cases, and I think it helped a lot. (I was doing CBT too so I don't know what worked but something did). I still get anxiety/panic issues but not as intense as before and I can manage the feelings better. Lingering side effect for me is sleep problems, but not too bad. Good luck with whatever you try!
  2. Hi tranquility. I have similar issues and happy to chat anytime - know what you mean about visits to the doctor.... I have to build up the courage to get in there and then survive the waiting room experience! Hope you're feeling a bit better having found the site. I just joined too... Mark
  3. Hi lonesailor.... thanks for your reply.... you're right -i do feel a bit like I can handle the panic feelings now - they don't progress as a far or as fast -and they are less frequent... but i really want to get to a stage where they just don't happen... do you think that is possible?
  4. Hi Gilly.... I do think my major problem now is worrying about it getting really bad again..... I am vaguely functional now (as in I can go to work, look after my kids) even if my social life has taken a bit of a hammering.... i think maybe i need to start pushing on with getting out and doing things more-but I kind of don't want to provoke a relapse.... thanks for being so kind as to reply. mark
  5. Hi Jonathan, thanks for taking the time to reply.... I'm going to take a look through the articles here and elsewhere... i'm hoping that a major use for this site will just be to get a few things off my chest with poeple who know what i'm feeling like..... thanks again Mark
  6. Hi Lee, thanks for your reply...i found my clinical psychologist through a referral from my GP....have done several sessions of CBT which have all been useful - some were transformative.... i feel rather like this helps me manage the problem rather than cure it - but for now that is a good start!
  7. Hi all... My name is Mark and Ilive in the UK (south west)... Fairly recently I started experiencing panic attacks, which have become more and more severe, until now I am agoraphobic... have done some CBT and taking sertraline (and occasionally diazepam), which has helped, but i am far from "normal" and live in fear of it getting really bad again. I have found it quite difficult to talk about these issues with my partner or friends, not least because I don't think they can really understand how I feel... hoping to find some people on here who will listen (and I will happily reciprocate!)
