Leah1976 301 Posted June 3, 2018 Hi guys, long story short. I started with on/off pain on my pelvis, mostly right side, sometimes left, 1 year ago. The pain it's 4 out 10 in the pain scale and only lasts 1 second. It feels like nerve pain, not sure. Anyways, I had an ultrasound done 1 year ago that was fine BUT didn't show my right ovary, and thats the side where the pain mostly is ....gggrrrrrr.... then went to another doctor and asked for a CT scan, which was done 6 months ago and didn't show my right ovary either GGGRRRRRR....recently I went to another doctor who prescribed an MRI and I am waiting for the results. I had the MRI done last Thursday. The tech told me I can call the office on Friday to "bother" them about my test results. I didn't have the courage to call and they didn't call me either.... Monday is approaching quickly and I am FREAKING OUT! I am sooooo scared the ultrasound and CT scan may have missed an ovary tumor.... this is such a nightmare for me.... I found 2 studies that say that "If an ovary is not visualized on pelvic ultrasound, it can be assumed to be without carcinoma and MRI rarely adds additional information"..... BUT I am sooo so so so scared these tests missed something, THEY USE THE WORD RARELY... still a chance?.... I mean if they miss an ovary they could have missed something else????? I HAVE WASTED ONE YEAR OF MY LIFE WORRYING ABOUT THIS 24/7 SO SAD Someone tell me something please?? I don't know.... This is so bad for me, I don't do well waiting for test results like this. I feel like my life depends on this MRI.... I don't have the courage to call.... it's 11:30 am and no call yet... I am stocking my patient portal to see if they post the results there, but usually takes a long time for the results to be posted.... I can't call... maybe tomorrow, I don't know.... In fact, chances are you wouldn't even have been allowed to leave the MRI room. Radiologists take a quick glance before you leave. They need to know if the technician perhaps didn't get a certain area, or the imaging was not clear in which case they want you there so they can do what's necessary rather than call you back. These radiologists are doctors and they see MRI's of every section of the body every day. They can tell in an instant if there is something serious. Even if you can't bring yourself to believe that, by now, some 72 hours later that scan has been read in detail and probably submitted to your doctor. If there was something bad, the radiologist calls the doctor to give a heads up and faxes or couriers over the results. No doctor, radiologist or GP or specialist wants to sit on a serious illness. One of the reasons why it seems to take so long for us to get our results is that radiologists and family docs, etc pay primary attention to problem scans..quick look, shows something wrong. That scan gets immediate attention and reported. Normal scans and those with non-seripous findings have to wait. I'd bet a years pay yours is fine. LAST UPDATE - Results were posted in my portal and it says left ovary ok and right ovary NOT VISUALIZED gggrrrrrr.... WTH? This is so weird... I will talk to my gynecologist, maybe I was born without the right ovary?????? I will look into my history from my old doctors office.... anyhow, thank you all for your support, this not the answer I wanted in a way.... I mean I am happy they didn't find a mass.... but I feel like I don't have a closure.... this is crazy and a bad scenario for us hypochondriacs and OCD.
