Autoimmune disease feeling hopeless

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! As I've posted earlier this week I'm having a rough time. Long story short I had optic neuritis as a kid or inflamed optic nerves and they told me it was just how I was made. Usually this is a sign of a brain tumor or autoimmune disorder. Last year I went to a new eye dr who told me I need to see a neurologist right away because of my swollen optic nerves even though I told him about my diagnosis as a child he told me "things could have changed." I've just now gotten insurance and was finally able to make an appointment. The waiting is killing me. This eye dr totally freaked me out and since seeing him I've had sensitivity to light, twitching, small bouts of vertigo, feeling like when I lay down I can't breathe, itching, trouble swallowing, and possibly more bruising but I can't tell. Most likely signs of an autoimmune disease. I just can't tell what symptoms are in my head or real anymore. I am convinced I have something like lupus or ms and that without knowing right now for sure I will die of a heart attack in my sleep or my kidneys will fail. Thought I might be feeling a little bit of pain where my liver is so I'm worried my autoimmune disorder may be effecting that.

Im a 24 yr old female, work out a couple times a week, eat generally very healthy and on no meds. Drink probably more then I should which is why my liver is probably first to go. My appointment is in 11 days and I'm just waiting to find out my horrible diagnosis or be passed along to another dr just to wait again. ?

Some Dr. Really have horrible bed side manners, I know it's hard but don't let one Dr upset you. You were diagnosed as a young child.. I would feel more confident in that than an eye Dr that you don't usually go to. I had a nuero Dr scare the hell.out of me and it took me weeks to get over it. The twitching is deff anxiety.. I had that for months. You are also hyper aware if your body right now because of his comment. 11days will fly by!! Like I said I would find lots of comfort in your first diagnosis.

Hello I just wanted to peek in here and say unfortunately anxiety can mimic many things I have anxiety but I also have an autoimmune condition and stress definitely doesn't help it but causes it to flare up.

I have taken care of the stress in my life (some of it) and am feeling better already.

Hope you get some answers and peace soon.

A brain tumor is a far stretch. This sounds to be nothing more than an optical issue which is so common! :)
