Dear Jon, I took the liberty to open a new thread to respond to your post.

Your quote:'Yes, awful! But we have lived with this for years. When the IRA were killing people there was always this threat. They killed an MP many years ago in Westminster, but people forget so easily. It will go on but what's the solution? The word lacks Love, real Love and compassion. We treat each other so badly. In the US they are spending billions of dollars on developing a manned rocket to Mars, while millions die of starvation in Africa. If there was oil in those countries would they be starving? I doubt it.

I find it all so sad and it's not encouraging. But when you see how everyone rallied round and helped in London yesterday, yes, there is hope after all.  The answer? God only knows. What gets into someone that they can kill like that? One thing it doesn't do is help with anxiety.  Imagine working in London now or any big city in a democratic country. Frightening!!"

Yes, indeed awful! I realize you guys have lived with the terror attacks for many years in regard to the IRA. Also, one could argue terror is terror and the outcome is the same, I do feel it's different.

I remember the killing at Westminster years ago, and the other terrible things. I do feel strongly about the US spending billions of dollars on NASA missions. I think it's great the US is so innovative and that should never be taken away! Do you realize the US spends billions of dollars each year in first aid for humanitarian efforts? Usually they are the first ones on the scene.... Those are two very different budgets and the American taxpayer carries the burden... Personally I don't believe for one second that we would get rid of the starvation in Africa by pouring that entire budget into Africa... First the corruption in Africa would have to be 'fixed' somehow. The US gets the bad rep so many times, it upsets me to no extent! The European country I'm currently residing in, wouldn't stand a chance without the US Forces if there was a real threat. Every time I hear one of our jets go up, I try to salute them and whisper:' In God's Speed!' Those guys and girls are putting their life on the lines every day. For all of us! And yes, the US is seen as an aggressor a lot of times, but how come everyone relies on them so heavily when in need? Afterwards, when things are not pretty looking it's easy to offer critique---all countries should come together and help out! I realize the UK did their part in past war efforts, and it's not a popular thing to talk about it. And yes, in a perfect world war should always be the last resort! And I wish the emphasis could be solely put on diplomatic solutions but the ordinary public doesn't realize sometimes how many years were spent using diplomatic channels before the forces are send on their way.

I'm not arguing for arguments sake....This is my personal opinion and I value everyone else's opinion.

Yes, it is so very sad what happened and it's encouraging to see the people around the world to come out, comfort each other, junior doctors running on the street to help out, strangers offering their coat or a helping hand. People being there for each other. And all of us on AC living in free countries, being able to exchange opinions without percussions.

What gets into someone who is capable of that? You got me! A lot of brainwashing/buying into an ideology, a lot of bitterness, a lot of dissatisfaction with their own lives.... Those would be my guesses.

Yes, it's frightening to go out and work anywhere for that matter. Not just in a democratic city. Think about being a female in Afghanistan...or a family man in Iraq going out to the market..... All we can do is keep going no matter where we at.

Best Wishes.

MLLL, I'd like to see the USA stop, just for a week or so, it's foreign aid, in all its forms, the impact would resound around the planet. It's actually more than the rest of the world, combined. Most countries have phenomenal natural resources, but their governments are so corrupt, it's impossible for their own citizens to survive. The world we live in today faces a threat unlike any other we've encountered. Political correctness and fear of being labeled a racist or bigot is now tantamount to being a convicted murderer. I can't imagine what this world is going to be like 5, 10, 20 years from now, if we even survive. I pray every day for the USA and for every other nation on the face of the earth, to stand up always to, and recognize true evil where it exists. It seems to be more and more difficult, with every passing day. God bless those who fight true evil, it is the most difficult fight of all.

No problem at all!  It should be interesting.

Pinky, I know you mean this in theory, because if foreign aid would be suspended it would cause a lot of hurt. What I really love about the USA is how many ordinary folks contribute to that budget though! All the churches, universities, private organizations are determined to keep going and to keep giving! That's worth a read for anyone who is interested.

Yes, of course, I only mean it in theory, MLLL. Sometimes, it seems as if all you ever hear about is the negatives; aside from all the money the US taxpayer gives in foreign aid, the generosity of the everyday citizen to their fellow human being is breathtaking; and this is done out if the generosity of their hearts, over and above the monies they pay in taxes. Not just dollars, either, it's given in the form of time, talent, charities and so forth. Thank God, and God Bless them.
