John 0 Posted January 17, 2015 Hey guys My name is John. I'm 19 and live in Pasadena, CA, USA. I've been sober for nearly 8 months (Jan. 27th) with the help of Alcoholics Anonymous. I am also free of the hypochondria that once controlled my life, thanks to an antidepressant called Lexapro. I joined this forum to expand my horizons, but also to give advice when I can to those who currently suffer from what I've encountered firsthand. Thanks for having me! EDIT: "Former-Alcoholic" is a paradox. Should just say "Alcoholic" haha

Bterflymom 155 Posted January 17, 2015 Congratulations on your sobriety, I'm happy for you. My only daughter died 10 years ago at age 44 from alcholism and prescription drug addiction. I'm always glad to hear a good recovery story. I'm doing well on Celexa so won't be switching but glad that you found what works for you.
jonathan123 2368 Posted January 17, 2015 Hi John and welcome to AC. "Former alcoholic"! What's wrong with that? Former means you are no longer which is true and congrats on that. I can appreciate the struggle you must have had and most alcoholics show great courage when they decide to do something about it. Thanks for being here and offering help. Your post is a positive one and we can do with all the positive suggestions we can get! Good to have you with us. Jon.
