angrry 55 Posted April 25 Hi. Has anyone had any experience with itchy skin? I mean all over. Arms, legs, back, chest, head, face, hands and feet. Not there all the time and not everywhere all at once. It comes and goes. I’ve had it for about a week now. My dr sent me for bloodwork to check liver and pancreas etc. he has also sent a request for allergy testing. I know serious things with the liver and pancreas will show up in bloodwork but it will not show lymphoma which is my main worry. Unfortunately my dr has a family emergency and had to go away for 2 weeks. I won’t see him for my blood test results until May 9th. I’ve had itchy skin in the past that lingered for some time and it was never determined what it was. Back then my focus was always liver or pancreas ca. I never even thought of lymphoma back then. Now it’s all I can think of. I’m really struggling to stay calm with this. It’s just another worry added to the stress I already have from my aortic aneurysm diagnosis. Thx for reading. Any help or advice is appreciated.

It does sound like a decent sign that the urgency of your results isn't high. If there was something really wrong, you would be attended to. It would seem kind of malpractice for a serious issue to sit on a desk for the next two weeks. I can imagine stress is high right now. Just about anything could happen, even psychosomatic stuff. The mind does wonders if you let it. First - be glad that you don't have to go through the family emergency; there is stress with the doctor. Second - again, you can ony focus on what you know. The test is done; the results are available. If it was serious, you would probably have heard something before he left.
angrry 55 Posted June 17 hi...just a quick update...i had my allergy testing on Saturday...it was negative...no allergies. The dr who did the allergy testing sent me for more bloodwork...this time to test for autoimmune diseases...i have an appt with my gp on Thursday, I'll request an abdominal ultrasound just to rule out anything bad with my liver and pancreas once and for all. If there is health anxiety, you could end up back with all of worry returning, even after you get all the information from the doctors.

Itching could be nerves, or a skin issue, so something else. It's all about just finding out what is going on. So far, you see to be in clear. What is going on with the mind through all of this? How are you handling it?

The spectre of some serious illness is still hanging over me. I think if the blood work comes back clear again it will help. A clear ultrasound will really make me feel better. I think my age is affecting my mind now too. I’m 62. So I’m getting into the age bracket where serious illnesses are more likely to happen. Here are some positives. No weight loss, not tired all the time, I can still go to the gym and workout. I have a good appetite. The abdominal pain isn’t terrible. I keep trying to keep all these things in mind. But the darkness does creep back in. I’ll keep trying to stay positive though.

I guess the site was nonresponsive for a bit.... It's easy to fall into the trap of "Something is still wrong with me even if I know all of this" - we got to specialized doctors as we get older. You'll need to update us on the tests. You stick with the known stuff. The rest is just mind entrapment.
