Lost 2.8 lbs in one day.

Recommended Posts

I have been weight workouts and some cardio regularly the last few weeks and slowly dropping about .2-.5 lbs per week.  But this is a large amount over night and kind of freaks me out.  I have had VERY high stress and moderate anxiety the last week so I am wondering if it is that from eating less and being stressed so much.  I definitely have been eating less, but not 3lbs in one day less.  I am not sure if I should go see a doctor or let it go and move on.  Thoughts?

It's both anxiety and exercise.  I wish I had your issue.  Last Friday, I found out that not only did I gain the three pounds I lost  the previous six months, I gained three more.  I run five miles three times a week and still gained weight (partly on meds).  I even see muscle trying to break through my Paxil fat, but I still gained.  I'd lose weight for sure if I wasn't on meds.

Weight loss is generally supposed to be one to two pounds a week - by subtracting 500 Calories a day, that equals one pound a week.  If you are just starting to exercise and have much weight to lose, you might lose it quickly in the beginning.  Be careful of water loss - make sure you are hydrated as that is lost as well.

Ya. My main concern is I’ve been working out 3-5 times per week doing weights and cardio but only losing .2-.5 per week or so. Gaining muscle has made it slower. Which is fine. But two days ago I was 218.8 and then this morning I saw 216 and my stomach dropped. That’s too much for that small period of time. Stress and anxiety has been VERY high this week though and I know I’ve been eating/drinking less. I did do an MD Live today and the doctor was not concerned at all. He said it’s normal especially with high stress. If it got significantly worse rapidly then I should get checked out. It’s probably fine but as you know, believing takes time usually. 😒

I made sure to eat a normal amount of food yesterday with a big dinner and actual snacks like I would if I wasn’t anxious. Today my weight is back up to 218 when I woke up. Much better coming from 218.8 rather than that 216.  I bet if I eat normal for a few more days it’ll even out again. I feel a little better.
