KH84 42 Posted October 6, 2021 Last year i homeschooled my kids full time and my husband wanted them to go back to school and i didn’t. Less than 2 weeks into the school year they brought home covid and while it blew through the kids like nothing. I just felt like the flu. My husband got it worse and i was so scared and worried about him possibly dying. Although he was the sickest he has ever been he wasn’t close to needing to go to hospital. Just media contestant talking about dying. He got the monoclonal antibodies and got better but since then i have been having severe anxiety. I can’t get covid out of my mind and it is all i think about. I am scared to death of the shot after seeing something on YouTube about it ruining peoples lives to where they can’t even function. I know out of all the people that got the shot majority are fine but i can’t get that out of my head and it is ruining my life. I can’t get over my anxiety about it. I know most will say just go get the shot but please be kind as i am deathly afraid. A lot of my fear is my kids bringing covid home again. I keep trying to tell myself they are coming out with a antiviral and there is a shot called novavax hopefully coming out soon that i would feel comfortable taking but how do i wait if it is affecting me this much? I see everyone else moving on with life and i am so miserable and stuck in my thoughts and anxiety
MARC 431 Posted October 7, 2021 I too was afraid of getting the shot, until 2 of my friends got pretty sick for around 3 weeks, but got better. My friends father who was 81 passed away from the virus. There is risk with any vaccine, prescription medicine, etc. Odds are you will be fine and modern medicine says does the benefit outweigh any risks and according to the FDA the vaccines are good to go. Ironman 198 Posted October 7, 2021 Well, I got "jab or job notification" this week, but I have been "fully V'ed" since May. This absolutely gets me irate to no end to see this kind of mandate - we don't play that in the U.S. People have different symptoms. I had a sore arm for a day (but that would happen with allergy shots as a kid). It depends on which one you get. Technically, if you have had it, then there is no need to get the vaccine, but people are insisting that you still get them.
KH84 42 Posted October 7, 2021 @Ironman that is where my struggle is. If your body has the actual virus then I have antibodies from the actual illness rather than a fake spike protein. I feel like they are just trying to get everyone to get the vaccine no matter what and do the people who had it really need it? I need to somehow stop it from ruining my life because it’s all i think about and it is causing me debilitating anxiety which my logical mind knows is silly
Wonky 92 Posted October 18, 2021 I'm immune compromised and am begging everyone that can - please take the shot. The people not taking the shots are more likely to kill people who can't fight it off. The data shows we are safer with the shot, masks, and social distancing. There needs to be a balance of normalcy for people not to be isolated as well. The shot should lower your anxiety that your family is more safe with it.
