return of stomach cramps

Recommended Posts

I've taken gabapentin for 10 months but I've never been more depressed. I'm down to a tiny dose of clonazepam and I'd hate to go back on it. All that would have been for nothing.

I'm also been taking citalopram for a few weeks and I think it's starting to take effect.

It was a mistake to withdraw from clonozepam. Everyone I've spoken to says it doesn't cause cancer, but I let my fear of it overrule me. 😢

I don't know what to do now.

Clonazepam doesn't cause cancer, but it DOES cause terrible, terrible dependency. Trust me when I say that you are better off without it. It might be hard now but the withdrawals are GUARANTEED to ease with time. Just be brave and stick with it - you've come so far already, don't waste all that effort you've put in.

Yes, but at least I felt better when I was on them. Getting cramps again today. Maybe I'll ask for an x ray or something.

X-rays would only show bone issues.  You are having muscular issues.  Try a sports drink or water first.  There are even vitamins to help with muscle issues like this.

But now you're off them, over time you will gradually feel better and better. It's extremely tough a first, but you need to have courage, and above all, patience. Just hang on while your GABA receptors rebalance themselves.

I meant to find a colon or stomach tumor or something. My doc doesn't seem to think that's likely even after multiple visits but the idea still scares me.

If you've been checked by a doc, the chances of you having gut cancer are infinitesimally tiny. Your bowel is upset because of anxiety, which in turn has been severely exacerbated by benzodiazepine withdrawal.

Sure hope so. He didn't really check, just listened. Set it sounded "very active".

I guarantee it. Your symptoms don't even match those of bowel cancer. You don't have it.

You seem well informed on the topic. Have you also had these symptoms too?

You should only worry about it if the doctor says something.  There are specific things that occur with cancer.  It's beyond just "stomach cramps".

Stomach cramps can be anxiety itself.  I get nauseous when I am anxious - can't eat.

Okay, is this something you've looked into?

Yes I've had these symptoms. They come and go. They are particularly bad when I'm very anxious.

Not into that itself, but there is more to stomach cancer than cramps.

Like I said before, and Doug97 stated, it is more likely anxiety-related...or maybe gas/bloating.

300th post :).
