Sallyhart 16 Posted September 25, 2019 Thank you for being back I am so pleased. I am in a spiral at the moment. I will try to keep it short. I have lots of toilet issues which I was thinking was IBS or just nerves. I visited doc and she said I had a hemorrhoids. She did a rectal exam and said all good. 10 weeks ago I was at the ER with abdominal pains and they did a abdominal and pelvic CT with contrast everything was unremarkable. BUT, I am now having pains down my lower right side and I have convinced myself it is my ovaries. I am over the menopause. I am so scared it is cancer of them or something. The pain is vague. No other symptoms apart from alternating toilet issues now and again. No bloating or anything. Is it likely to be something sinister even though I had the abdo/pelvic scan 10 weeks ago? Could something change in such a short time frame? The scan did say ovaries and uterus unremarkable but HA is playing havac with me right now...:-( Thanks for any input. PennyPanic 276 Posted September 25, 2019 Of course, I can't say what it is...no one here can. I do want to share with you that I went through something similar earlier this year...ended up the ER. Long story short...I eliminated all dairy from my diet and voila....no more issues. I responded fairly quickly to the diet change...quickly all hemmorhoids went away and that had been an ongoing issue. IBS type symptoms went away. I didn't think I was bloated either but my tummy has flattened and I even lost a little weight. I would have liked to have lost more...but it all evened out. They say most people are lactose intolerant they just don't know it. For my diet change I did not do any lactaid milk or any fake dairy or anything like that. I just have been eating "clean" and no dairy and it has made a HUGE difference. I made the mistake of eating dairy - by mistake - last weekend and paid for it actually rather dearly. I won't make that mistake again. They can test you for dairy or lactose allergy/intolerances etc....but I just went with the old trial and error and it's helped an awful lot. Perhaps discuss it with your doctor? You might be eating something (dairy, gluten or who knows what) that is causing the discomfort. It can be a challenge to eliminate something such as dairy from your diet but if it works, it works, right? Anyhow, why not run that by your doc and see what they think? Sallyhart 16 Posted September 25, 2019 Thank you Pennypanic Haven't even thought about food intolerances, I just went straight to the worst case. My saving grace was the fact I had had a CT but now HA tells me otherwise...hate how this makes me feel 😞
PennyPanic 276 Posted September 26, 2019 I get it. I went there as well. Remember, I too ended up in the ER because of it. I don't even think I was consuming "that much" dairy...but there's hidden dairy in EVERYTHING. I clearly have an issue with it...proven out by consuming it by mistake this last weekend and ending up with the worst pains and well...you know...ahem...bathroom experience...I had had in a while. For me I noticed the difference early ...like some help within a week and a big difference in a month. I seriously had no idea such discomfort could be caused by a food intolerance...I never gave it much thought. Who knew!?!
Ms.Honey 12 Posted September 27, 2019 I also have.. (had) been dealing with crazy stomach issues, plus hemorrhoids, etc. All of it causing a ton of anxiety- I started seeing a naturopath and she told me to cut out all dairy. It has made an enormous difference!!! I always suspected I might be lactose intolerant but she actually said it’s the proteins in milk that I’m probably sensitive to, not just the lactose. Of course I still worry, but I also had a clear ct scan, which helps me get through a lot days.
Sallyhart 16 Posted September 27, 2019 Thank you for your messages. It always helps. So I wanted to update you all as I think it is nice to close off with answers. I went to my GP today and explained what had been going on...I have got an external hemorrhoid. She did another thorough rectal exam and then gave me an internal down below... Looked at the cervix and all around that area and felt for bumps and lumps. Nothing untoward going on. Felt the ovaries and they were also normal. She said of she had any concerns at all she would do tests but there is no reason as I had a CT not so long back and colonoscopy 2 year ago. Now here's the thing, she said do you realise that for the last 3 years during Sep and Oct you have had the same issues? I go that often to the docs I can't remember that! She said last year in September she even took swabs from down below....I can't remember that!! She said in all the testing that I have had something would have been seen if anything was wrong and I just have to try and remember that!!! Urine sample was all negative too. I have been with my doc 8 years and trust her like no other...I am so happy nothing was untoward but I wonder why it is this time of year that I start with bowel and down below issues.... thanks folks

How interesting that you've had this at the same time each year for 3 years. That is certainly something to think about, isn't it? Is some lifestyle change, some seasonal stress, some unknown thing that happens every year at this time? I new diet something....like pumpkin spiced coffee or something that you only drink this time of year? Stress over the new school year if you have kids in school etc? Let us know if you figure it out. But the important thing is you got the "all clear." Yay you!
Sallyhart 16 Posted September 28, 2019 I think maybe seasonal changes, some people are quite sensitive to the seasons changing...isn't that funny! I have always had a change in health through Fall and Winter think I need to hibernate ike the animals do 🙂 There have been studies done on seasonal changes and how they affect people...interesting
Ms.Honey 12 Posted September 28, 2019 That’s interesting! I’m actually fascinated by this and also a bit relieved to know I’m not alone-   January is my month every year.. something -always-  happens, it’s been 8 Januarys in a row where I have something going on during that month resulting in a series of doctors tests.  So glad your exam was all clear!
