MS fears are back

Recommended Posts

My MS fears are back, of course. Constant (2 years ish) head prickly feeling every time I'm hot. Parasthetica (itching and tingling) in my left shoulder blade. Prickly feelings on my arms, legs and chest at random. I know it could be anxiety. I've had clear blood tests. A clear brain MRI and spinal MRI. And passed my neurological exam last month. But still I'm nervous. Ugh. I hate health anxiety. Hate hate hate hate it.

Hi!! It's been. A long time..I hate to see your anxious but always happy to talk to you. 😍🥰

The main thing is you were checked by a neurologist so you can absolutely rest assured you do not have MS. I have all those symptoms too. I've had them for years..  I even have that feeling like bugs are crawling up my leg 😬🥺 those never bothered me it just feels so weird.. it was the twitches that got me..

Hugs. I hope this fear goes away for you soon. Your tests are clear, you are clear. 😘

I missed you! Thanks for the encouragement and hugs. You are always the most calming person and have given me so much reassurance over the years. I hope you are doing okay as well!

You have helped me so much as well! It's so hard with anxiety to see that we are truly ok.. but for me, looking in on your fear I can see plain as day you don't have MS and you are healthy. You will see that for yourself soon.

I'm good. I've had a small spike in my anxiety but trying to get it back under control. I guess it never fully goes away..as much as I wish it would.

I've known several people with MS (a number of years ago I developed a weird symptom that's common in people with MS, so while looking for answers for the cause of my issue, I met a handful of people with MS, and a friend of mine has it as well) and I can't say that sounds especially like anything I've heard described.

Your scans and exams showed that you're healthy.  You have no reason not to believe them.  If a neurologist sees no signs of MS, you probably don't have any.

I'm sorry your anxiety  is giving you a hard time right now.  Hang in there.

Sounds like to me you are experiencing a classic case of "Doctor Doubt". Basically questioning your test results and your doctor's word.

I'll give it to you bluntly, but not trying to be rude or anything, there's no reason to doubt those that went to school for that stuff :p. Neurologists are trained to see warning signs of MS. If they don't see them, they speak the truth.

Hang in there. I know the feeling of anxiety!!

Thanks y'all. I really appreciate the support. I definitely experience doctor doubt frequently -- I have a follow up with the neurologist next month and will likely get some (albeit temporary) reassurance from her then. But until then? I'm going to try to enjoy my summer. ☀️
