AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 10, 2019 So I don't know if I'm going insane or if I'm just trying to find something to be freaked out over, but on the left side of my chest it feels like my collarbone feels more prominent than it should. I don't feel a separate lump but it feels softer than the actual bone too and when I'm relaxed I barely feel it. I tried looking up inflammation of the area but all I got were lymph node talk and cancer. I lost more than a few friends to cancer so you could understand why I'm frightful. Am I thinking too much of this or is something actually wrong?
bin_tenn 1252 Posted February 10, 2019 I think it sounds like you're reaching for something to worry about. There's nothing to worry about though, IMO.
AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 10, 2019 I'm not sure, you don't think it's an inflamed joint could it? I want to accept I'm fine but something doesn't seem right. It's an area where the bone meets my chest under my neck and it's sore from me knocking it the other day.
AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 10, 2019 I feel like I'm spiraling down the rabbit hole of Googling once again. Nothing but arthritis osteomyelitis and cancer. Would I know if something was really wrong or will this be one of those silent killers? Could my bone be infected and I don't know it and need to go to the ER? I don't have the best insurance now and I can't just admit myself. I'm freaking out, HELP
bin_tenn 1252 Posted February 11, 2019 If anything, call your doc for a regular checkup and talk about it. You'll be fine.
AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 11, 2019 I can't see a doctor at the moment, my brother's flying out to San Francisco tomorrow and I'm booked solid the rest of the week. Is there anything I can do until then besides abstain from Google? Or take solace in the fact I don't have any other cancer symptoms or any real symptom beyond this bump which may be perceived

I was reading your post and just thought I'd check my own collar bone and my right one is bigger than my left. I don't think it's inflammation at all.. I just think we aren't symmetrical and it's just one of those things. I'm with binn, you are fine.
AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 11, 2019 Is it near the breastbone where it's bigger?

I understand you have a busy week ahead..does your town have a walk in clinic like a urgent care where you don't have to have an appt? Sometimes when I just can't go my Dr and I know my mind won't let things go I get some Dr reasurrance and move on.
AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 11, 2019 I think your comment helped since I seem to remember feeling something like this a while ago but I just noticed again.

AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 11, 2019 It sucks, I though I had defeated my HA demons, but they seemed to be storming the castle lately.

AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 11, 2019 I think I'll be okay. I'm still a little worried but since I have no other symptoms I can recognize I'll write it off as one of those things. Everyone I asked seemed indifferent too. That said, why haven't I noticed this until now?

Bec we are anxious people and we look for things even when we don't realize it.. then we attach scary unture things with it.. mostly with the help of Google. AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 11, 2019 Right but in that case it's more something in my head. The way my HA always manifested itself was through physical symptoms like this.
AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 11, 2019 Morning update: I'm getting nervous again but it feels like it might have gone down some. It doesn't feel like the actual bone bur more muscle if that makes sense, but I don't see anything about that in any of the google searches I did. My biggest concern is lymphoma since a friend of mine went through it and while he survived, I'm not sure what to look for. Are there any nodes in that area where the collarbone meets the breastbone? Doesn't matter because you don't have lymphoma. I understand feeling anxious about it, but asking those types of questions will only feed the anxiety. Accept that you don't have it and be well. If it's any consolation, a few of our kids are sick. Fevers and coughing, and feeling generally unwell. No vomiting though. Yet, here I am, terrified that I'm going to throw up at any time. Why? Because nausea and vomiting make me severely anxious. And I can't stop thinking about it. But I'll be fine, and so will you.
AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 11, 2019 I suppose you're right, could be a muscle thing if nothing at all.
bin_tenn 1252 Posted February 11, 2019 Probably. I'm not downplaying your fears at all, but lymphoma, I'd say, is probably the least likely thing to be happening.
AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 11, 2019 It's not downplaying at all, I'm just trying to figure out what the most likely scenario is beyond arthritis or cancer or a bone infection. TBH it feels more like an inflamation than anything and I can move it around some.
bin_tenn 1252 Posted February 11, 2019 Eh, there isn't always a reason for these things. That's unfortunate for us anxiety sufferers, but we must accept that fact.
AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 12, 2019 I noticed the spot I was concerned about is starting to itch some after getting a shower. Is that worth getting uptight over or am I overthinking again? What's weird is I look in the mirror and barely notice anything but I can feel it.
bin_tenn 1252 Posted February 12, 2019 Still overthinking, IMO
AbeLinkedIn 41 Posted February 12, 2019 I'm thinking bruise now, I showed my dad and said every symptom I had pointed to it, even the itching.
