Hello! Has anyone experienced an increase in their anxiety upon starting up on an SSRI medication? I had been on various brands of the SSRI's over the last twelve years, the latest being the SNRI cymbalta. This past February I weaned off the cymbalta, thinking I could cope without it, but I was wrong. My doctor thereafter suggested trying Wellbutrin, which I took for nearly six weeks until I realized that it completely increased my anxiety, and threw me into a tailspin of health related anxiety. So again back to the doctor and the next one to try was Prozac, which I lasted on for about four weeks; again, my anxiety increased tenfold, shakes, palpitations, etc.. So once again back to the doctor and now I've been on Lexapro for a week (I had been on Lexapro prior to the cymbalta several years ago and it worked well). im still feeling a lot of anxiety at this point, and I've been reduced to taking one Xanax a day to help me cope. I did some research and see that the initiation of SSRI's can cause an initial increase in anxiety, but I was hoping that it would pass by now (between the Prozac and now the Lexapro it's been a total of five weeks on an SSRI). Years ago when I first started on an SSRI I don't recall having this issue. Just wondering if anyone out there has had this same issue, how long it lasted, and any words of encouragement!
