brit 14 Posted December 6, 2014 It's midnight where I live and I just woke up feeling like it's hard to breathe. I can't go back to sleep because it feels too uncomfortable and like I can't breathe. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to go back to sleep and help this pass at such a late hour? Thank you to anyone who replies
jonathan123 2368 Posted December 6, 2014 Hi Brit. Sorry for the delay in answering but the time zone thing got in the way! Don't try and take deep breaths, that doesn't work, but just accepting that it is tension tightening up your chest muscles may help. Have you any meds you can take to get you over this hump? Tranquilizers help, taken when needed. Better than laying there getting in a state. The knowledge that this is anxiety frightening you is so important. All the symptoms of anxiety are caused by tension that builds, and the more it builds the more anxious we become and the more the symptoms arise. You certainly won't stop breathing, that's for sure. We have no control over our breathing, thank goodness, it is all done for us by mother nature, so don't worry. Take it easy, it all passes given time. Jon. brit 14 Posted December 6, 2014 It's okay and no I don't have any medication that does that. Luckily my friend was up and decided to text me and that kind of distracted me, and I must have been exhausted because the next thing I know it's morning, but thank you for replying
