Memory and weird Deja Vu

Recommended Posts

I've always been told that my memory is excellent, a trait I got from my father. Except that I'm very absent minded, so I generally forget things just because I haven't actually noticed/listened to them or because I'm thinking of something else at the time. When I was a bit younger I used to get deja vu all the time for a while, and thought it was fun.  :p

Now I get the regular deja vu very rarely, but I have another "kind" of it, I think, which makes me anxious to the point I'm afraid my mind is making up stuff. Sometimes, someone tells me something that (I think) I've never heard it before. But, later, when I think about it, I have a very strong feeling this isn't the first time I hear of it.

As I see it, there are 3 potential answers: a) My mind makes up memories. (Scary one), b) I've indeed heard of it before but I'm absent minded and don't recall it at first (that was the case sometimes, but not always) and c) I confuse some things I've heard here and there and combine them, and then overthink about it (most likely  :p ).

I'm curous if it happens to you too.

I did realize things too late sometimes, because I get pre-occupied to other stuff and not really listening to it seriously. It's like the same feeling when your trying to recall a person where you have seen him but you just cant get to pin point it at all and then later you will suddenly remember where is it.

Your mind is okay.
