Bad times all around.

Recommended Posts

I am not doing good. I have anxiety/panic attacks multiple times a day, at night, in my sleep, while driving, at work. I can't take it anymore. I am going to my doctor, getting on a maintenance medication and going to a psychiatrist. I can't sleep, I can't function. There is no riding it out anymore. I walk on eggshells all the time for fear of losing my mind. My dreams are keeping me awake. Not nightmares, at all...just so much dreaming, all night long. And I am vividly remembering it. I want it to stop. It is all I can do to keep my self together.

Hi Vicky :(

I'm sorry.  Do you know what hte loads of nightmares tells me and this might be a HUGE key to what  going on with you .

You're not sleeping DEEP. I'm sure you're saying ' no shit sherlock?' but what I mean is dreams are upon falling asleep and again upon waking up. They are in the REM stage of sleep which is not DEEP SLEEP. WHen we are in deep sleep, no dreams, no eye movement, just zonked out. So the less sleep you get, the worse you feel and mentally exhausting !

If you are hesitant to get on meds  full time, why not ask for a really serious sleeping med?  I know that failure to reach deep sleep can cause loads of problems. Your brain is , in essence, never getting a shut off, time out, reboot. So imagine pulling your car in the garage and letting it run all night, every night and never turning it off. How well do you think it would perform tomorrow on the highway ?

Just a suggestion. I'm really sorry you're having a rough time. We are here . Come and talk when you need us and remember you are OK. This is temporary. Panic will trick you into thinking this is forever and that is a LIE !

I'm sorry you are going through a bad time vicky, we understand we really do, I have been there, and I know a lot of others have too. Joy gives some good advice, you have made the right call going to the doctor, it will get better, you will not feel this bad forever, hang in there.

Hey Vicky, sorry you are having such a rough time. I do know how you feel though and you are doing the right thing by going to see the doctor. Have you had your thyroid checked? It's possible you might have a thyroid issue. Good luck.

As soon as I get paid again, in a week, I am making a dr. apt with my regular physician and getting a referral to a psychiatrist. I am also fully ready to be on a maintenance med. I take something now, but it is on an as needed basis. It works great, but I don't know if it is intended as a full time med. I can not take a sleeping pill. My line of work and work schedule are not compatible! I get up too early and MUST be 100% focused at ALL times. Always on guard, I will most assuredly bring the thyroid issue up when I go. I am going to make this apt my yearly check up as well so we are going to test blood, tissue, whatever can be tested WILL be tested! Of course, this feeds into my hypochondria, but that is the least of my worries right now. I have got to get back to some type of normalcy. Even if it means walking the" addict on meds" tightrope. Thank ya'll all so much for just listening and giving me some feedback that is better than "What is wrong with you? Just relax."

Addict on meds is just a term. If you take as prescribed and don't over use or abuse, you will be ok. When things settle you can cut back if you need to. You may find a really mild pill that is useful all the time and doenst  have bad side effects and suits you really well.

Don't lose heart !
