Just burned out

Recommended Posts

I am sick and tired of everything right now. Just frustrated with how my life has gone and how I can't seem to get ahead. I feel anxious and paranoid all the time. I've spent so much time alone but now I'm too afraid to go back out there. I am hearing of new violence all the time and I feel no place is safe. I wrote about this on here before. I keep imagining a shooting will occur wherever I am. I am sickened by how we are okay with all this violence. I'm even afraid of things that didn't used to scare me, like choking on my food. No way around that. Have to eat. On top of that, my depression is also getting worse. I just want to cry every moment of every day.

I can think of only one murder to occur in the town I live in, about 12 years ago. It's pretty peaceful. But I still am always glad to get back indoors.

Depression can amplify anything that causes anxiety, which in turn refuels the depression.  It's a cycle.

The only way out of the cycle is to try and "jump" out of it.

But I don't think it's just me. It has gotten more dangerous out there, at least in the US where I live. I was supposed to go out this evening but I just couldn't bring myself to do so.

It's not just you.  The ironic thing is that everybody is going through what we are going through - we are actually equipped at handling it better because we are used to it.

Don't let the anxiety control you; get out if you need to and just be smart about it.  Use the anxiety to your benefit.

I don't know how to.

We have to use a lot of self-talk.  Filter out the things that we have no control over and work on what we can.

The world isn't exactly as dangerous as you might perceive.  You should be able to go anywhere you need or want to go.  If you feel you need pepper spray or something like that, than get some.  Chances are you won't need it, but for example, it would give you a sense of control.

I worry about my aging dad choking when I'm not there. I am wondering if I should get a LifeVac for him..and myself. I might sleep better with it but I'm sure he'd tell me I was overthinking again.

You'd probably scare him if you told him that.  It's not that easy to choke on something, especially when we can cut food up now :).

There's always the Heimlich Maneuver, too.  You can do it over a chair if you are by yourself.

I learned it years ago but don't remember it now.

It's a lot cheaper to know the Heimlich than to buy a vacuum.
