Wonky 92 Posted October 17, 2021 I've been listening to this on my iPhone under my pillow for the past couple nights to help me fall asleep. I often find nighttime for me is the hardest time to wind down and a routine really does the trick. Does anyone else do guided meditations?
Doug97 19 Posted October 17, 2021 Yes, I've been doing them since 2015. I don't think I could have stopped drinking without them. I also read a lot of books about mindfulness in general and really tried to get into the ethos of it. It helped me a lot. Wish I could get back to that but it takes quite a lot of effort and discipline. It's easier if you're a Buddhist monk! 😆

It's helped me a lot with times of grief and acute physical pain. Where I am panicking and not sure I can handle pain. There is something about guided mediation (and the audio telling you to breathe) I find really comforting. I wonder if we can make a thread and do a weekly group meditation and keep ourselves held accountable to give ourselves at least one meditation a week? Even if it's 10 minutes of breathing exercises? Doug97 19 Posted October 17, 2021 I think that's a great idea in principle. Do you think there are enough active members to make a group meditation work? Are you meaning we'd all meditate at the same time?

Are you meaning we'd all meditate at the same time? I'm sure if we tag a few people crossing both from AC and AS (and maybe inviting others from other places); we can get a good group of people. I can also out-reach on social media to get people to join in via social posts. 🙂 It could be played around with; it could be at the same time; it could be "when you go to bed" (and people review a meditation style in posts); it could be something we all need to be active on at the same time to post. There is many different styles we can do (and combo).
Doug97 19 Posted October 17, 2021 That sounds like a great plan to me.
