AriaRen 19 Posted May 11, 2021 Hi guys After a good few months, my health anxiety feels like it's coming back with a vengeance. If you've seen my previous posts, I had major anxiety surrounding ALS, I had body wide twitching etc, and was convinced I was dying. This went on for over half a year before I eventually calmed down, I do still get the twitches, but I'm pretty sure it's anxious related as it's never fully went away, but has definitely lessened, and gets worse when I'm really anxious. The issue is, for some reason I've been really anxious recently (I'm starting a new job soon, I'm guessing that's why), and it's made me very twitchy, which in turn has made my health anxiety flare up again, and now I'm worried about ALS again. I know it's so unlikely, and it doesn't get better, it only gets worse, so it's 99.9% not, but there's just always this little voice in my head. I'm not googling, I'm keeping busy, I'm way better than I was first tie in around with this stuff, but I hate that I'm letting it get to me again. Sleepless nights are becoming a staple, and I don't want that going in to my new role. Does anyone have any advice or tips to help calm myself down? Just anything really. Thank you for reading ❤️ have a lovely daaaay x
SurferJoe 11 Posted May 11, 2021 Self talk helps me a lot. Your anxiety represents an irrational side of your thought process. Listen to those thoughts, but then let your rational mind respond. For instance, you mention that you've been really anxious lately, but then say you guess it's your new job. Have that conversation in your head. Hear the irrational part express worry, but then use the rational side to respond. Same thing with the twitches. Just keep the conversation going. It might take time, but it's a good habit to develop.
AriaRen 19 Posted May 13, 2021 Thanks Joe, I try that sometimes and it works quite well, I might need to put more focus on it. Really appreciated 🙂
