AriaRen 19 Posted November 23, 2020 Hey guys I'm a 25F who's experiencing twitching of the toes. I've been to my GP about 10 times over the past few months, and A&E around 4 times since July, and they've all told me I'm fine, and it's probably just an inflamed nerve as I sit all day for my job, or my anxiety, and yet I still have this overwhelming fear of ALS. I've struggled with anxiety before, but more generalised, I could control it a lot easier, and I didn't feel as crazy as I do now. I have a great job, a great partner etc, yet my brain just can't accept that I'm okay. I've recently started citalopram, so I'm hoping to see a difference, and I'm also looking for a good therapist aswell, so I hope to have this under control soon, but just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully help others at some point if possible too, we're all in this together ❤️ Hooe you're all well x
MARC 431 Posted November 23, 2020 I have known 4 people who have had ALS and there symptoms were nothing like yours. Try to also remember ALS is an extremely rare disease with only around 5,000 new cases per year in the United States.
AriaRen 19 Posted November 23, 2020 Thanks Marc, just scary having symptoms you feel you can't explain. I need to start putting trust in my doctor, just been a tough few months. Having anxiety anyways through a pandemic is difficult enough, but I've also changed job role, moved home, which are great things, but yeno, change. Then my uncle was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of lockdown too, so I think that's where it's all flared from. I'll get there 🙂
