I've tried desperately over the years to combat my condition but cant ever seem to shift it  .... I try with all my might to fight it but it always wins .... if anyone has any help for me I'd really appreciate it.... many thanks Jenny

Hi. Jen. Your problem lies in your message. 'Combat'. Shift it'. 'Fight it'. You or anyone else can never win a fight with anxiety. It's not possible. And why? In the dictionary it says 'To fight. To enter into combat with'. Fighting increase the adrenaline in the body. It prepares you for the fight/flight mode handed down from Caveman ancestors. He had to fight or run, and facing a big hairy Mammoth he had no alternative but to run. Being in a permanent anxiety state means you never stop the adrenaline, the fear hormone, from causing problems. Your body is in a constant state of alertness and sensing danger where none exists. It's the old viscous circle. Fear/ anxiety/ symptoms/fear. What to do? What I suggest is something you may find difficult, but give up the fight and struggle and fully accept the feelings and emotions. No reactions just calm acceptance. Not at all easy, but it can be done given the will. Now 'giving up' is not the same as 'giving in'. No way! There is a book I would suggest. By Dr. Claire Weekes. 'Essential help for your Nerves', available on Amazon. She explains in depth what acceptance means. Get it. What have you got to lose?

I agree with Jonathan, read a book by Claire Weekes. I read Hope and Help for your Nerves, by her. It’s full of great information.

It’s nice to see you on-line Jonathan. I hope you are well. You are such a help to people on this site.
