I am really worried.

Recommended Posts

A lot of you guys know a lot of the issues I have been dealing with for the last couple of weeks if not months. Muscle twitching , tingling in one leg non stop for weeks, etc.

One of the symtoms that I have been experiencing that is really worrying me is having numb or stiff hands while I sleep. Sometimes it happens to the right hand and sometimes the left hand.

This is really worrying me, when I first wake up usually I have a numb stiff hand. It will either be the right one or the left one. I didn't think it's ever both of them . Then I try to close my fist and I can't the hand won't react. It takes a few seconds (3-5?) to get any movement at all, then it finally the hand starts to move. It's hard to tell what is going on because when I first wake up , I am still halfway asleep. But this is really worrying me.

Isnt ALS supposed to be just one limb at a time? Also why is it that as soon as I wake up, there is one problem hand that takes a few seconds to react? Is this just part of the process for being numb?

I don't know guys this is really a scaring me.

This happened to me too at the height of my anxiety. It would be around the time I would wake up in the morning and go away maybe a half hour to an hour after waking. It felt similar to like having no blood in my hands and arms. It def made my grip weaker during that time and my fingers. Arms felt heavier. I googled it of course and so so many people had the same thing happening. Once my anxiety subsided a little - like my entire anxiety not just als anxiety, I just had to calm down, it kinda stopped. I’m still like weaker some mornings but it always goes away.  I wouldn’t be able to press my fingers together and my wrists were floppy and stuff. I asked the doctor about it and he said “you are diagnostic to the textbook for anxiety, this is attributed to that.” I think it does coincide with my blood pressure and stuff too.

I have had this too throughout my bout. Typically though, I had my arm cranked in an awkward position, sleeping with straight arms seems to fix it for me. It is unsettling though.

Interesting, I am not sure if maybe the sleeping position is causing it or not. I'll try try sleeping on my back with my arms straight to see if it helps. What worries me is that this started around the time the tingling in the left foot started.

Did you ever notice joints cracking/popping? That's another symtom that just started a few days ago for me. It's most noticeable when I am in a still position for a while and make that first move. It's everywhere though , it started on Thursday and it hasn't stopped since. I feel it on my knees, wrists, ankle, even feet

I am going to try to get my doctor to prescribe me some anti anxiety meds and see if it helps. Because a lot of people do think that anxiety is causing everything . I guess it's worth a try.

Yeah my joints have been popping like crazy lately. Sometimes it’s like more creaking than popping. It’s gross lol.

Not everything comes from anxiety but we if we have been cleared by our GP's and they suggest it's classic anxiety, then yes we need to try to accept it and find a good counselor like we would find a doctor when we have a physical ailment.

My left foot is sore and my ankle pops when I stretch the left calf (Achilles stretch). My joints in my fingers ache, my left big toe aches when I lift it. I’m sure it’s all anxiety
