Livelean 3 Posted January 18, 2017 My anxiety has been through the roof lately. I have had palps before when I was pregnant and the doctors were curious to know what was going on as I continued to have them after delivery so they had me to an eKG, heart monitor for 24 hours and a heart ultrasound and a stress test and they told me it's PVC. Well they went away 8 months later then year later returned. They dissappered for another 8 months and started back again after I started take an iron supplement so u stopped takeong the iron and they stopped. Well 2omths later they just returned and I feel them more when I'm rested or lying down. The other night I had a lot of them and I could feel them in my pulse as if my heart stopped beating for a second. I also been taking magnesium but don't see how it would affect this. I have low normal blood pressure anyone else as in a bit worried again
H_Anxiety 6 Posted January 18, 2017 I too have pvcs, they are the worse! I take a low dose beta blocker (even though I didn't want too) it works. I can take them like aspirin, when symptoms are present instead of everyday. I know they are benign but they suck! You'll be fine, I would also try camomile tea, it is relaxing and allowed me to calm down and the pvcs would taper off.
Livelean 3 Posted January 18, 2017 Do you notice a pattern with yours? I'm just worried since all my tests I've developed some kind of heart condition. And why do they come and then go. Like what would cause them? Sometimes they come out of the blue and others from taking iron.
txjenn 17 Posted January 18, 2017 I've had those off and on for over 15 years now. I, too, had a stress test, heart u/s and holter monitor about three years ago and it came back as PVC's and nothing to worry about. Mine come and go for no reason. The last real run of them that were constant (daily) was back in November. I was going through a stressful time of the holidays coming up and taking a trip out of the country. Now that all of that has passed, I don't feel them much. Normally, they increase around my period each month. Not sure why but I definitely notice them more then. I also get them sometimes when I bend over to pick something up or even just simply sitting and relaxing. I recently noticed them while I was in the dentist chair having some work done on my teeth. Whatever they used to numb my mouth really increase the palpitations. Just know that they are VERY common and nothing to worry about. You've been checked out so that should ease your mind, too. I do agree with the prior post that chamomile tea is great to help calm you. It won't stop the palpitations but it will help relax you. I drink it all the time. Livelean 3 Posted January 18, 2017 Oh great to hear that they are common and there are others like me. Yah i guess I just have to try and ignore them and hope they will go away. I did that last time after having all those tests thinking that everything checked out ok and I was fine and sure enough they disappeared but when they reappear after so many months makes me wonder if something is missed. Uhhh the great hypochondriac way of thinking. Thanks all for the replies and putting my mind at ease.
HyperBallad 12 Posted January 18, 2017 I have been experiencing what feels like fluttering sensations in my chest accompanied with shortness of breath for a few seconds lately, at least a couple times a day. It happens out of nowhere, then I have to focus on breathing slowly to keep myself calm because it makes me so nervous. I have been dealing with my anxiety for several years, but moreso in the last couple years, which has manifested itself various health anxiety issues. Last time I had an EKG was April 2015 when I called an ambulance because I had a panic attack so bad, I was sure I was perishing from a heart attack. It was normal, but my b/f having open heart surgery in August to repair a mitral valve made my health anxiety focused on his well-being, as well as my own heart health. I haven't really been stressing lately, but I have felt more in tune with my heart sensations and these fluttering sensations come out of nowhere. They've been more frequent recently. I know palpitations can be brought on by stress & anxiety, but I'm not particularly stressed out these days and I'm worried it could be something physically wrong with me? My mom has mild mitral valve regurgitation. I can't remember the last time a dr. listened to my heart through a stethoscope. Ugh.
Livelean 3 Posted January 18, 2017 does the shortness of breath make you cough? I sometimes feel like I need to cough after I feel a heart palp. guess it's just a normal feeling? Even though you're not under stress, your focusing on the what you think is an issue so could just elevate your symptoms more then what they really are. If it's really bothering you doesn't hurt to seek a doctors opinion on it but I'm sure since you had an EKG like I did, you're fine.
txjenn 17 Posted January 19, 2017 I usually have to cough or change positions when I feel a strong palp. Some also sort of feel like they take my breath away. Sometimes, too, it will feel like a palp is going to happen but doesn't. That drives me crazy.
Shelby934 20 Posted January 19, 2017 I had a lot of palps about a month ago. When I was worrying about them I came a long this thread "To those who suffer from palpitations" It's long but really helped me from worrying about the palps. I booked marked it even to re-read in case I started fearing them again. It explains why palps can be caused by anxiety and stress. It even talks about the coughing sensation we get when we experience a palp! Anyway my palps went away. And I'm sure yours will too!

Dr said it was the body's way of helping getting them to stop.
Livelean 3 Posted January 20, 2017 very interesting article Shelby934. That all makes sense so thank you for sharing. Gives me a bit of relief. Do you heart palp sufferes have low or high heart rates? my heart rate is normal resting between 55 - 60 and yesterday it was lowest at 50. I never seen it that low and it freaked me right out that I got up and started moving to get it going cause was scared it was going to keep dropping! so strange. Yah I have to cough sometimes if a palp is strong and yes sometimes I feel one coming or I feel It about to come and it doesn't.
