Amanda_L_Didion 0 Posted February 12, 2016 I've had depression since the seventh grade, and I never had a problem with going to school until sophomore year. I'm now a junior. I've now missed 18 days. I don't know how to force myself to go. Any advice?
jonathan123 2368 Posted February 12, 2016 Hi. Amanda. Welcome to AC. . I don't know how to force myself to go. Any advice? YES, DON'T. Forcing yourself will create more problems because you will be fighting yourself. Making yourself do something that your mind does not want to do. Now I am NOT saying don't go. Oh no, not by any means, but go without the nervous anticipation, the fear, which is at the root of the problem. Can you see what I mean? Loosen up. Let go as much as you can, deep breaths, and go Willingly without the struggle you are having now. But sitting down and doing nothing but fret over it won't help one little bit. You are young and can overcome this and you will. But stop fighting yourself. Ask yourself what you fear. Why don't you want to go? What is there at school that frightens you? Analyse the situation. You are an intelligent girl, use that intelligence to reason yourself out of the fear you have. Come back and talk if you wish. Great bunch of guys here who all know how you feel. Good luck. Jon.
