Aaand I'm back *sigh*

Recommended Posts

Well I had a good couple of weeks. That was a good run.

just stood up, and my heart went crazy, skipping beats and going fast. I've been having little sharp twinges in my upper right chest throughout today and now I'm terrified again.

thought I was so close to getting over it this time :(

Please please please don't let this set you back. It's something called tachycardia. I get it all the time especially when I'm stressed. It's like you bend down and stand up and all of a sudden your heart is going a mile a minute and you can feel/ hear every beat. As long as it isn't happening frequently and it's making you pass out you're fine. Trust me, I had such bad tachycardia and premature atrial contractions. I went to the cardiologist theee times, got my blood checked, and I was in a holster monitor for 4 weeks. Everything came back normal. I'm so glad you have been feeling better, don't let this stop you from healing.

Thanks Juliana, I try not to, but it's so difficult. Skipped beats are just feel so... wrong? Just one sends my mind racing, if I get more than one it's terrifying. It's worse because everyone says it's just a premature beat, but when I'm feeling my pulse I can never feel this extra premature one. It ALWAYS just feels like one completely missing.

it makes me tremble, butterflies in my stomach, a rush of adrenaline. Etc.

its horrible.

I too used to have a fear of heart attacks. My doctor made a really good point...he said "when people come into the hospital with a heart attach, we actually give them a shot of adrenaline to shock their heart back to "normal". Your anxiety is already producing adrenaline. That means your heart can't give out, as if you were having a heart attach"

Also, I know what you mean with the skipped heart beat feeling. I get those all the time. Right now I feel it actually. I read online that your heart will never "skip a beat". Rather, the timing in between the bears become erratic due to the premature bests. Trust me, I know it's so annoying. But as long as you aren't in severe pain, you're fine!

I hope you feel better

I completely understand. But at times like these we have to remember all the times it wasn't real and how we are here healthy and alive :)

Thanks Juliana. Hopefully this cycle wont last long and I'll be feeling good again before Christmas.

Now this morning I've woken up with a little blood in my throat. That really doesn't help.

There was a woman that posted she was spiting blood after brushing her teeth and after a nap.. i believe the topic was "gastro issues and now blood"... It's on the first page here in the health forum. She went to the e.r. and they believed it to be a dry nose etc.. a few other people commented on their same experience with that. It might help to ease any fears regarding that.

Sometimes in health anxiety when it rains it pours, this is just a set back. Don't let it discourage you. You are doing good... This all will pass soon too.

Hey!
You know my heart is healthy, but sometimes when I'm stressed out I get these symptoms too!
Please don't worry it's normal.

Thanks everyone. Dry air sounds exactly right. But of course it never actually helps to know.

Any idea if heart conditions come in waves? Or are they constant? That's the only positive I can take at the minute, I have weeks of feeling great. If I actually had Atrial Fib, would it be more constant?

If you had A.Fib, you would feel irregularity all the time. It's not something that is hard to miss. When you get those episodes when your heart starts beating really fast, they usually stop on their own don't they? People with afib often have to go to the doctor to get their heart "reset" because it just doesn't slow down. Also, I don't know your personal information, but it is almost certain you don't have afib if you are under 50, healthy weight, and don't have family history of heart problems.

Peiple with afib are usually over weight, unhealthy, smoke, have family history of heart health and are older. It is extremely extremely extremely rare is young healthy people.

My mom and sister have AFib. No.. it was constant. They take medication to help but sometimes they have days it acts up.. .my sister is a teacher and when she first got diagnosed she had passed out while teaching her class. You would absolutely know. Heart palps are normal.. I get them with too much caffeine sugar and sugar. I get them if I don't get enough sleep or if I  over exert myself too quickly. When my anxiety is high they come and go until I calm down.

Love your post, you are so so right!!! ??

My mom and sister have it.  They are both fit and active.. my sister has it and she still does kick boxing, swimming etc.. medication helps control it. You are absolutely right that it's also family related. We have not had any contact with either side of my parents family since I was a baby so we honestly have no idea what our family health history holds.

Yes they couldn't get the heart to slow on their own. That's how they got the diagnosis.

That was me! The blood sent me into a major tailspin, but it was all from dry sinuses. Your dry capillaries pop and bleed down into your throat. It happens to a ton of people. Check your nose a few times and I’ll bet you find blood. I’m using a goop called Ayr to keep my airways moist - see if it works for you.

As for afib, my mom had that, and her symptoms were severe. She didn’t always have a fast heartbeat but, when she did, it was way out of control, much much higher than a regular racing heartbeat. Once she had an afib episode, her heart would never come back to normal on its own - she always had to go to the hospital for special medications. She was also in her 50s when she was diagnosed, and a long-time smoker with COPD. I think you’re ok, @Ruu. *hugs*

Thank you everyone! @Angelica Schuyler, @Holls (Haha I figure it out too!). I really appreciate it. And I hope it'll do something to help at least.

Hope everyone's families with actual afib are all ok :) seems like the speed is actually the main symptom of that that you say. Whereas mine is more the worry of constant skipped beats than the rate. So thank you! Hopefully this cycle of anxiety won't last long.
